Brainstorm Toys My Very Own Solar System Nightlight, Box size 240 x 190 x 290mm

This product has absolutely exceeded my expectations. The planets are extremely high quality, it is not a moulded shell, but a tight plastic covering that would not rip (unless you scratch at it). The assembly is easy and can be understood quickly if you read it properly. The sun is a dim and perfect for a night light or room decor. It has a good size and is also very light. I bought it because I wanted some room decor bit it would certainly teach the little ones about the overall structure of the Solar System. I haven't had it for too long so I don't know how long the battery lasts for. And the planets spin at different speeds as well, which was cool. However Saturn's rings don't quite fit, Jupiter's red spot is massive and the planet sizes are a bit wonky. Overall I think this set is extremely good for its price

What an excellent product! My 5 year old daughter loves the planets and the solar system so bought this for her birthday. She loves it, as do all her friends. Yes it is a bit on the noisy side but it's motorised so what do you expect? You can just have the sun alight which gives off a nice warm light. Bit tricky to attach to the ceiling but ok if you've got a handy person around. Very simple to operate. I did read the reviews and was a tad sceptical until I read the review by the "kid"! Well worth the money. 😊

I love this and my little boy loves it the only thing is if the planets over lap it doesn't spin and they overlap themselves sometimes but other than that a great product

Really nice model, the rotation isn't that smooth though. The noise isn't as load as I though it would be after reading other reviews. Loses a star due to the occasionally jerky motion. 15/08/17 Update: Jerky motion got worse until the gears just started grinding, shortly after that it stopped working completely. Returned to Amazon for a refund, unfortunately it wasn't available at the same price so purchased another from John Lewis. No stars removed as the new one works fantastically well. First must have slipped through the quality control net.

These look good but they clash with each other when spinning. Not sure if it's on all of them or just a defect on some but I had to leave them still and only use it as a light.

The time is faulty and can not be returned as it is outside of the returns window by 13 days, we purchased the item for our grandson who was having his room decorated, when it was fitted to the ceiling when the room was completed this was when it was discovered to be not working, this being the first time the parcel was opened, it is frustrating that you can not speak to a real person if I went into a store this would be exchanged if faulty.

After reading some of the other reviews about this product we were very sceptical about buying it. However, we are very pleased to be able to say that we think it is excellent. It is light weight and fairly fragile,but it needs to be this way in order to perform its function. By looking at the product shot we initially thought it was a room light which fitted over the room's light bulb. It is not. It runs off a battery and contains its own bulb. The motor which rotates the planets does make a noticeable sound but our son is not bothered by this as he does not fall asleep until he has finished watching the 15 min cycle. We have only had it up for 2weeks but it has worked smoothly each day since then. We were confused by the dimensions given as it is actually only 85cm in diameter. It is very easy to assemble (as long as you follow the instructions) and easy to fix to the ceiling, but does require you to make two holes in the ceiling. It looks very effective and we would recommend it to anyone interested in creating a space themed bedroom.
