Does the job. Good VFM
My AAA size battery powered Wahl beard trimmer has finally given yup the ghost after five years. It's early days for the new rechargeable model but my initial reaction is that these are excellent value for money. Yes, the attachments and the tote bag are all a bit cheap and flimsy but that is to be expected for a ยฃ10 deal. My beard is fairly tough and i like keep it quite short (stubble+?). I use the smallest attachment and the trimmer does an excellent job. Requires hardly any pressure at all and there was no scratching or catching on the skin. I cannot comment what it is like using it with one of the other attachments on a fuller beard. The trimmer appears to be holding its charge well. I know from experience that it is essential to keep the blades clean, dry and lubricated because if you don't that is when problems start and it will reduced the useful life of the shaving head. A drop of vegetable or olive oil used sparingly will do if you run out of the supplied lubricant. Overall, very pleased with the product and happy to recommend it.

A very good choice
This is my first stubble trimmer so I wasn't sure what to expect from it. I had done some research before choosing and decided that I didn't need all of the bells-and-whistles such as laser guidance (yes, some trimmers do have this!) but still wanted a decent, useable trimmer. I finally picked this one and bought it from Amazon. It is a good little unit which works well and is simple to use. Personally, I'd have preferred a slightly wider cutting edge so that more trimming could be done at once, but it still does a good job. In fact the smaller size does have some advantages as it allows easier and more accurate detailing, for example tidying the area around the mouth. It has a simple on/off sliding switch to operate it and the comb can be adjusted to suit various lengths of beard. There is another sliding button to lock your choice of length, but I think it's too easy to unlock it by accident; two or three times I did turn on the trimmer and also moved the lock switch at the same time, although within a week or so I'd learned not to. The trimming itself is comfortable too, with no pulling or snagging of hairs. Cleaning is fairly simple although it would have been better if this trimmer was rinse-able under a tap; unfortunately it isn't but the supplied brush does clean it up okay. The beard cutting lengths are marked off in numbers which is helpful, although the steps are a little big. My own preferred choice for a setting lies somewhere in between positions 2 and 3, so if Wahl were looking to make an improved version of this trimmer then I'd suggest that half-positions would be a good idea. The trimmer is reasonably quiet in use, comfortable to hold and is a very good choice of trimmer in my opinion.

The item is nice enough but it doesn't have the right shave length ...
I should have really listened to the other reviewers. The item is nice enough but it doesn't have the right shave length for me. Ideally there should be a setting between 1-2 something like a 1.5. If you are after a closer stubble look get something else that has .5mm incremental adjustments. The trimmer is good enough with a long battery, but for me, not quite enough options on the length adjustments.

Bset beard trimmer I have owned
I have been using this for quite a while now and I love it. I have had other brands before, but this one is much better. The blades are still as sharp as the day I got it and I use it every two days at least. It has a very nice grip and weight, strongly made and looks very stylish. The batteries last a good while and it is very easy to rinse every now and then and dry, I use a little bit of clipper oil on it after I have used any water to clean it. The blades pop off very easily and are very easy to maintain. To change the height of the trimmer is very easy and the fact you lock the chosen position is fantastic as you can be assured that the clippers wont accidentally slip to a lower cutting level and end up looking like a freak! I can't recommend these enough and you will not be disappointed, they are the best beard trimmer I have ever owned.

If you like short stubble, this trimmer is for you.
Every trimmer I've ever used has some negatives: If there's a perfect one out there, I've yet to find it. The Wahl Lithium Pro would achieve this ultimate accolade if only it didn't make such a mess! My previous trimmer had a vacuum feature and only now that it's gone do I appreciate the cleaning up it saved. Be prepared to spend some minutes cleaning the sink (and periodically unblocking it) or risk the wrath of your loved one. Enough of the negatives, now for the good news. The Wahl, on it's shortest setting, is the closest thing to a clean shave, without being clean shaven. Although all the trimmers seem to claim 0.4-0.5 shortest setting, in my experience they vary significantly. This one leaves only the slightest hint of a shadow. Certainly much closer that my previous Phillips trimmer. You will need some patience though as it seems to take a little longer to get the desired effect. It cuts so close that the odd missed hair is really obvious and nothing short of perfection will suffice. Thanks to this closeness, it's also not possible to whiz it around your face in a blur of impatience; a more measured, delicate approach is needed. The blades are narrower than in many other trimmers. I measured them at 23mm wide, compared to 32mm on my Phillips. The comb is also the exact same width as the blade, serving to exaggerate the petiteness of the business end of the trimmer. It felt slightly odd the first time I used it, something like using tiny hair clippers on my face but the result is what counts and it's very impressive. Pity the charger isn't micro-USB but battery life appears excellent and the motor sounds strong and unlaboured. All in all, I'm delighted with my purchase.
