Cheap, Functional, Durable, and Now Comes in a Whole Bunch of Colours
Even before retro became fashionable, I've sworn by this watch. It's functional appearance certainly has its charm, but what really makes the Casio F-91W-1YER great is its simplicity and longevity. It's a watch that does watch things - it very clearly displays the time in either 12 or 24 hour format with a little green light for telling the time in the dark, it keeps track of the day and date, it has an alarm and the option to have it chime on the hour, and it has a stopwatch with lap function. It does everything you want a watch to do, for a very modest price - I've seen plenty of watches cost far more but do far less. That's not all. It goes on forever. Well, not literally, though it certainly feels like it. I've owned mine for somewhere between five and ten years now and I've not had to replace the battery once. Also, despite working in a laboratory with a million-and-one different ways to melt plastic, corrode metal, kill circuits, etc., not to mention regular commandeering by a toddler over the past year, it still looks almost as good as new. I've friends who work on building sites and in the armed forces who can attest to the durability of this watch too.It has, as far as I'm aware, only one Achilles heel, and that's the strap. This tends to wear out before the actual timepiece does and once it's gone, you might as well just buy a new one. That said, it's not like they wear out quickly (mine's still as strong as ever), nor is it as if they cost a bomb to replace. Other minor (and I stress the word "minor") issues include having to reset the date on a leap year (oh no, I have to spend a minute setting the date on my watch every four years - whatever will I do?!) and the green light not being powerful enough for some folks to see the display properly (should've gone to Specsavers...).Anyway, to end on an up-note, here's my conclusion - buy this watch. It's cheap, functional, durable, and now comes in a whole bunch of colours. What's not to love?

A timeless classic
Casio launched its first digital watch, the Casiotron, in 1974, and apparently perfected it 17 years later with the F-91W.Introduced in 1991, the Casio F-91W is what many see when asked to think of a classic digital watch; square, 3 buttons on the sides, date view, stopwatch, alarm and (optional) hourly “beep”.It's such an important watch, that there is one displayed at the Science Museum in the "Making of the Modern World exhibition"Casio claim that it will function for 7 years between battery changes (assuming 20 seconds of alarm and one second of light usage per day). I usually lose mine before then, but I've never known the original battery to last less than 7 years.Because it's so cheap, lightweight, and readily available, you don't have to worry about wearing it in conditions you wouldn't dare to wear another watch in (washing up, working, swimming etc.)It looks good on an 18mm wide NATO strap tooIf I had to be critical, the backlight is bad, if you absolutely need to see your watch at night, get a nearly identical Casio Illuminator F105W or W-86-1VQES, but bear in mind these are always over double the price.

Good Old Time Classic 90's watch
Almost 20 years ago, my dad bought for me and my brother this watch from the local stores. Still school students back then, digital watch was a trend for people. I still remember the joy that I had wearing this watch, playing with its chronograph and its light. As years passed, technology in watches surpassed expectations. Multifunctional watches have been created; from watches with tv remote control funcion to heart beat monitors.Sometimes, you just want to return to the past, not for too long, just for a while; till time machine will be invented, we will seek past through items that give us memories to remember.Searching for a cheap digital watch to buy for my brother and my father, Casio F-91W suddenly appeared in front of my eyes. Loaded with so many memories from the 90's I decided without hesitation even its functions are limited to clock, alarm, chronograph and back lightSo far, since they got their watches, these are the things they like and they don't, wearing the watch daily:PROS:+ super light+ great value for money digital watch+ made of good plastic material (for what you pay)+ a watch from "the past"CONS:- single low alarm sound- water resistant limited to splashes- besides time, alarm and chronograph, you won't find any other functionality- short strap lengthOVERALL:A simple great priced watch from the past, that deserves the title "Old Time Classic". A perfect present for kids and for those who enjoyed their 90's Casio F-91W watches but don't have big wrists. Its strap length size is a big let down and that's the only reason I don't give 5 stars.Note: I will keep the review updated regarding its durabilityUPDATE:* My dad's wrist is quite big so he uses the second last hole from the strap; even in this hole it feels tight on his wrist!* 12h/24h mode changes with a press of a button, so you always have to be carefull not to press it by mistake and change your default setting.
