+ Price is fine for the quality. This coffee is for those that do not like the strong acidic taste of pure arabica. It has 20%robusta which gives the coffee a roasted taste. This blend is perfect for your everyday coffee and think it will be great for latte or cappuccino. Also the exact weight of the item is 1013g, in case someone was wondering if it is 900g according to a review from another customer. However there is something I did not like much. The coffeebeans in general are a bit grease which can be attributed to some extra added oil or grease to make the beans to look better which they also usually do for lemons. This can damage your Caramic grounder in your coffee machine. Anyway you should buy them and compare to your previous beans if they have more of the greasy stuff. As I will also double check

Purchased for wife, mostly. Initially said she really liked it, but then the "strength" seemed to fade after using for about a week. Not sure if just inconsistent blend, or if it wasn't super fresh, or the wife was just making that up to buy some different coffee!, but either way it was good, cheap coffee, and (personally) I'd buy again but the wife wouldn't, so can't give it 5 stars :)

I am always going to the super market to buy coffee beans and over time I have noticed that they really do not like to put too many beans on the shelf. This kinda annoyed me so I decided to search for coffee on Amazon and I came across this coffee. First of all it arrived super fast and intact. Second I did not realise how big this bag was going to be until it was in my hands, You are getting a lot of coffee for your money with this bag Now to the coffee, I am a lover of espresso the stronger the better but my wife likes a mild to strong coffee and this one hits the spot. Now just because I drink a lot coffee and it has to be from beans I am not going to sit here and say things like "it has a hint of chestnut" or "there is a real earthy flavour with vanilla under tones" lol because coffee is coffee to me its either nice or not so nice and this coffee is VERY NICE. If you love the quality of coffee that you get in the cafes then this coffee will please you very much and it will last you a long time saving you many ££££'s

For anyone on here shopping for something to daily drive on their Sage (Breville) Barista Pro or Barista Express this coffee is a life saver! The flavor profile has a very wide appeal, I can’t imagine anyone would hate it - I personally love slightly smoother blends with a Robusta edge to give them some bite. If you’re a fan of those very fruity acidic blends or a nice Ethiopian single origin this won’t be your favorite coffee - but it’s pretty good. Where this coffee shines though is being an extremely forgiving coffee to dial in on your Grinder. For those proud but still slightly novice home espresso enthusiasts like me, it’s really frustrating wasting upto 100g of every bag of coffee dialing it in this coffee is a welcome relief. It still took me a few shots to get it just right but none of it went down the drain! This coffee seems to be pretty drinkable 1, 2 or even 3 Grind settings too high or too low! You can tell easily enough it’s under or over extracted and tweak accordingly but it’s still pretty palatable before you get it right! Makes life just that little bit easier!

Tried this instead of another main brand coffee bean when we'd run out and this was available via prime next day delivery but our usual wasn't (unless we bought 6Kg). Found it really good. It's a strong flavour roast so be careful if you like a smoother coffee. As others say, some beanss are darker than others, but maybe this is because it's a blend of two different types of bean rather than uneven roasting. Having got through 3 bags now, it certainly doesn't effect the taste which is consistently good. Switched back to a Lavazza blend just to compare, and will definitely keep going with this brands instead now, and it's cheaper, maybe with the odd Lavazza now and again just to have a change

The matt black packaging with glossy details, red font and sticker presenting the product as"barista coffee beans" gives the impression that Pelican Rouge has exercised care and judgement in selecting and roasting quality beans, and presenting them in a way that would not be out of place on the kitchen counter. This had been further enhanced if they told you when the beans were roasted. However, it feels like more thought has gone into the packaging than the bean quality. On first inspection, the beans are dark and oily, as you would expect for a 4/5 dark roast. They have a bitter smell, which is further released on roasting, with imperceptible acidity - in line with most standard arabica/robusta blends. In a cup of black coffee, the bitterness does not stand out in the cup, but neither do any other flavours. The coffee comes more to life when mixed with milk, when it reveals subtle tones of caramel and hazelnut. It's a perfectly okay cup for the price, but nothing that will have you excited to get out of bed and run to the coffee grinder. Pelican Rouge Barista is good value beans of permissible quality, best enjoyed as an espresso drink with milk.

These beans snell fabulous each time that I open the storage container that I have them stored in. They grind down perfectly, I use my nutribullet to grind my beans, and I use the coffee in both a cafetiere and an espresso machine. In my cafetiere I can see a slight oil residue on the top of the coffee. This coffee is in my opinion a 4 in the coffee strength scale. Slightly strong but not at all bitter. I use a rounded coffee scoup in my cafetiere and find this is enough to give me a full bodied coffee in the morning and it's fabulous as an after dinner coffee. If you like an alcoholic coffee this is perfect and marries beautifully with whisky or tia Maria. I drink my coffee black with no sugar so notice if coffee is bitter and I'm often disappointed with big brand coffees but this one is superbly strong with no bitter after taste. It would make a perfect gift for a coffee lover.

As a home espresso drinker, I've been through various supermarkets beans, commercial beans, specialist blenders and small batch roasters, and yet this Pelican Rouge blend is not only one of the best, but far from the most expensive. For this price I was hoping for a consistent but passable espresso (ie a standby bean), but once I find tuned my grind, this delivered some of the best shots time and again. It may not suit your taste of course (for well known reference points, Costa and Nero I find somewhat stale and lacklustre even when the beans are relatively fresh, Starbucks beans I consider to a horrible taste [is it even coffee??], Illy I find a little too delicate and lacking a certain "oomph", of the Lavazza range I find the Top Class blend most to my taste), but if it's an italian style espresso with a kick but not too muddy, I'd suspect you'll find this is a great blend for you.
