Excellent quality and functionality
The hot water dispenser is easy to use and economical. According to my Smart meter the electric use is 1 penny for a cup of hot water. Itโs a safe appliance especially if like me you have Arthritic hands and are prone to dropping things. The dial at the top of the machine is easy to grip and enables you to set it for a smaller amount of hot water if needed. I use a metal jug to fill the top of the dispenser with cold water and find it easier to place the metal jug (with a sturdy handle) under the hot water nozzle, instead of using a cup. It boils in no time and is a sleek looking machine . Well worth the money for the quality and functionality.

Mum is safer making her tea; easy to use & clean; better for bills & planet
Great product! Purchased to reduce the scalding risk to an elderly and wobbly relative, from carrying a hot kettle; so glad I got it!. The HotCup does exactly what you expect- it heats & dispenses a cup of boiling water (faster than a kettle and much more safely), into a waiting mug. It only heats one cup at a time, so is better than a kettle for both the planet and the household bills. It is also a fairly snazzy, blue-lit black & steel, item to look at, (it thrilled and then crushed my coffee-snob little brother, who momentarily mistook it for a higher-end coffee thingy lol). No way to tell yet how robust it will be, but so far the OneCup has proved to be a great improvement on the old kettle. Mum has had no problems learning how to use it, as itโs totally intuitive. Neither she nor I (!) have yet forgotten to put a mug in place before pressing the dispense button. Iโm almost certain this will happen sometime, so itโs good there is a drip tray to deal with most of a worst-case spillage (NB drip tray holds just 210 ml-ish, so if you DO make this mistake, whack a handy receptacle under it sharpish anyway). In terms of build quality, it seems reasonably sturdy, though is undeniably a somewhat plasticky entry level product mostly made ofโฆplastic. The grille you put the mug on is stainless steel and easy to keep nice & shiny. It is easy to fill, although the fill aperture is small and I avoid filling it from the tap, instead using a jug with a narrow spout, about twice a day, to do this. Do make sure you donโt overfill it, as it will discharge excess cold water through the spout if you doโฆOtherwise, upkeep is minimal- I basically empty the drip tray and wipe it all down every couple of days. There are two things to bear in mind if youโre deciding if this is the hot water dispenser for you. First, this model dispenses 250 ml of boiling water each time; do ensure your mugs are big enough to take the full volume dispensed, plus a little space on top to allow for milk and to limit spillages. If you are especially committed to more delicate teacups /smaller coffee cups, you should consider a model which allows you to vary the volume dispensed, and maybe also allows you to vary the temperature for each cup (Breville and its competitors produce such models and the price for them is obviously higher than this basic one). Second, if you are trying to reduce your exposure to microplastics (our last kettle was specifically chosen to eliminate plastic contact with the water), this is definitely not the machine for you. Not sure which machine is, but I assume money will buy you anything you wantโฆ My budget is not huge and for me the choice was between the gradual and unquantifiable risks of chronic plastic exposure and the immediate danger of a disastrous injury. As giving up tea is obviously a total red line for Mum (I darenโt even suggest such a thing lol), this is the compromise Iโve had to make. Finally, I would definitely recommend this product for anybody with balance issues, general weakness or arthritic hands /wrists, for whom carrying/using a kettle may be painful or dangerous. It could help reduce discomfort, or even help you avoid a nasty accident. Iโm certainly much happier now with Mum making herself hot drinks when she wants, which helps protect her independence as long as possible. Sorry for posting such a long review- hope itโs helpful to at least some of you!

Great single cup maker, replaced kettle entirely, a few design issues so loses one star
So overall really happy with this, it boils and dispenses a normal sized cup's worth of water in 20-30 seconds - way faster and cheaper than a normal kettle. I have my old kettle plugged in if I'm making like a 6+ cup round of brews, but for the usual two or three I just use this now. Energy wise, my kettle costs a few pence to boil - this costs 0.04p per cup based on a 22p per kWh tariff (fixed till May 23). My calculations this pays for itself in about 3 months as my kettle was a lot more expensive per boil. In essence this has made making brews much cheaper and way more convenient. I'll never go back to a normal kettle again! There are a few issues with it though. 1> The power lead comes out of the side.....so, when this is on your worktop in order to see the water level indicator, and in order to lift the kettle off to refill it you have to have the kettle oriented in such a way that the power lead comes out sideways rather than at the back. Stupid design decision - why not just have another cut out so the lead can be re-routed? 2> When filling it can leak. There's a little clip that holds the lid shut (it releases the lid when a button is pressed) but the clip is directly in line with where you fill the water - if the water hits the clips (and it does because it's central) then water runs into the clip, and out the back of the kettle. At first, I thought it was leaking from the reservoir, but it turns out it just leaks via the clip/button. 3> It's noisy - it sounds like one of those really old coffee makers and makes a loud bang when it's finished. I quite like it but not everyone would I'm sure. Still silly design decisions aside I highly recommend.

๐ Six Years, 4,000+ Boils, and Still Going Strong!
If you are looking for the "Old Faithful" of kitchen gadgets, this is it. I purchased my Breville HotCup back in March 2020, and it has been the single most used item in my kitchen ever since. โข Daily Driver: I use this 2 to 3 times every single day. โข Speed: The 3kW fast boil is no jokeโit delivers a steaming cup of water almost instantly, which is a lifesaver on busy mornings. Most appliances these days seem designed to fail after a couple of years. Not this one. Even after six years of heavy use, it is still working at 100% capacity. Why I Love It: The build quality is fantastic. It feels solid, robust, and reliable. Itโs a "set it and forget it" piece of tech that just does its job perfectly every single time. It saves energy compared to a traditional kettle because youโre only heating exactly what you need. The Bottom Line: Strong, solid, and incredibly robust. If mine ever finally decides to retire, Iโll be buying the exact same model to replace it. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a no-nonsense, high-quality water dispenser.

Ideal for the elderly
Got this for my elderly grandmother who struggles to lift and pour a kettle. Itโs fantastic! So easy and fast to make a hot drink. Meaning she doesnโt have to stand for long, no lifting, no pouring. Press a button and it self heats (fast) and pours automatically stopping at a set amount. Highly recommend.

I will buy again,
This is a great kettle. I bought for my elderly mother and it is so reassuring she does not have to life a hot kettle and endanger herself. For anyone with mobility difficulties it is so easy to use. Also very economical as you are only boiling one cup at a time so a win win. I will buy again.

Very loud dispense, but overall good machine
Bought this as had a different model in the past, positives-quick boil approx 30 seconds, negatives-VERY loud when it dispenses, will wake everyone up if using early/late , awkward to fill up as very small filling point and handle sits in difficult position, water quantity non adjustable so mugs need to be correct size or they overflow, even largish mugs dont leave enough room for milk, so if i re purchase will choose variable dispense larger version , very plasticky too if that is of concern for you, but ok for price overall and very good for folk who find lifting a boiling kettle difficult.

No more heavy kettles!
I purchased this because arthritis in my hand was making lifting a heavy kettle unsafe and difficult. The HotCup is ideal for making a cup of coffee or tea and even for making instant gravy! No heavy lifting and piping hot water in a matter of seconds. I purchased one for our son who lives alone and he is absolutely delighted with it.

Hot water is good
Good design. Relatively quiet and fast. English plug, so you'll require localised plug adapter for your region. 3000Watts.

Excellent product
Excellent. This is the second one I have bought. The first lasted years with heavy use. I can control the amount of water to suit the cup. It is easy to fill and to see how much water is in the tank. It heats very quickly and arrived well packaged.
