Solgar Zinc 50 mg Tablets - Pack of 100 - Supports a Healthy Immune System - Potent Antioxidant - Free from Sugar, Salt and Starch - Vegan

I bought this by accident but don’t want to return and I’m going to work my way around this, and hopefully this will help others. This is Zinc Gluconate, which means you’ll only get 13% elemental zinc per tab. This is 50mg (of gluconate) so 6.5mg of elemental zinc per tab, just over half your daily recommended intake if you’re 19+ years old. Now if you’re like me and taking this without doctor direction but know you’re missing your Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) to stay healthy but also worried about taking too much and you just can’t find any information that doesn’t seem confusing, contradictory and all that other nonsense? I did the research. Your recommended daily intake is always your elemental, so don’t think you’re getting a massive shot of zinc in one tab (relative to your daily need, you are, but not getting nearly 500% more than what’s recommended daily) one tab is 6.5mg, which if you’re a male adult you need 11mg and 8mg for a female adult (19+). For anyone 8 years or younger, don’t take a whole one. . Personally I am going to start off with half a dose a day, and maybe go full dose and stay on if I’m okay (and maybe take a day off or two a week) but immediately stop taking if you’re experiencing any of the side effects - which I know you looked up or will look up if you’re reading this - and go back to a lower dose once you’re all balanced out again or stop altogether. If in doubt, stop and go to a doctor even if it turns out to be nothing. Honestly, stay healthy.

Difficult to swallow, really chalky and sticks in the throat. If you imaging trying to get a cat or dog to swallow a pill that's what I felt like here. Capsules or gummies are easier. In terms of the quality, can't really say, I got fed up choking them down and bought a smaller tablet.

I used vitamins from this brand many times before, even if I get them online or from the shop, they are always making me feel better and energetic👍

My main problem with these vitamins is that they are hard to swallow and can get stuck in the throat. I chocked on the first one and had to cough it out. They are not coated and so are dry with sharp edges. Although quite large, I don't usually have a problem with similar sized pills and capsules. I have resorted to chewing them first but the taste isn't very pleasant. I'm surprised this was not flagged during trials.

I chose this Solgar zinc because of the clean ingredients and trusted brand. The tablets are easy to take, but I was surprised by how strong the 50 mg dose is. Since it was my first time taking a zinc supplement, I realized this strength may be too much for beginners if taken on an empty stomach. For those already used to zinc, it may be a great option. I appreciate the quality, vegan formula, and generous supply, but I would recommend starting cautiously if you're new to zinc supplements.

These are my favorite zinc supplement, very essential cabinet supplement in my house. I always take two with vitamin D before I get sick and then follow with 50 each day but you gotta eat before you take care or else you’re gonna be vomiting.

A lot of people started taking zinc back in 2020, realizing importance of supporting the immune system. Someone in my family was diagnosed with a deficiency in zinc, and the difference it makes is pretty evident in their situation. Because of this, we decided this brand’s zinc is the one we choose to stick with. It seems to do what is needed, and absorb at a nice rate. (Still, some food on the stomach is generally recommended when taking zinc.) Hope this simple review is helpful.
