Is this brush good for receding gums and keeping plaque at bay?

I would say yes. Using a too hard bristle or over-vigorous brushing damages the gums causing even more potential for infection and/or soreness. I use these brushes in conjunction with a Philips Sonicare AirFloss Pro. Way better results than poking around with floss and inter-dental brushes! I really like the brushes, they are gentle but very effective due to the density of the bristle count.
