The best feature of these planters is the ability to water my plants from below (the biggest issue I've had with house plants is "root rot" - often resulting in a once healthy plant suddenly covered in a ton of yellowing leaves). Definitely use the rope cuttings supplied. Until your plant's roots start making their way down through the container into the water - when you might want to start thinking about replanting in a bigger container anyway - the rope definitely helps in pulling up moisture. I also think the both the color (emerald-green) and design of the planters are very attractive. I'm using one of the planters on a desk (removed the hook and chain entirely) and another as a hanging planter, and both are working well. My only complaint (and I think another reviewer already mentioned this) is the difficulty you might have in getting water into the well below the container. You're going to have to lift the entire plant out of the planter (unless, as someone else suggested, you drill a hole). This is relatively easy for the planter I have on the desk, but a little more unwieldy for the hanging plant. And, as they both grow bigger and heavier, it might become a bit more of a problem. Still, all-in-all I'm very happy with the planters and would purchase again.

My spider plant is thriving in these hangers. They look amazing and are holding up after months of use. The only downside is that it’s difficult to fill the bottom container for the self watering part. If you have a watering can with a neck, it might not be too bad. If not, you have to take the whole thing off to fill up.

Really cute and easy to set up

I've gotten several compliments on these planters. Yes, they are plastic. However, after thinking about it I realized I would prefer them to be plastic. The weight of the plant, the soil, the water, and glass would make it fairly hefty. I think they're cute and they add a great pop of color to a room.

Nice hangars, but you have to lift plant out in order to water. Needs spout like smaller version.

I bought this self-watering hanging planter for my Hoya Curtisii that is planted in a chunky medium. The previous macrame hanger was a pain to take down and water, and it had to be done frequently. It’s been a few weeks since repotting, and my Hoya is thriving! I did drill a 1/2” hole toward the top of the outer pot so that I can fill the reservoir with a gooseneck kettle without having to take the planter down.
