Well...this stuff is just the best kept secret out there. I have waited a while to write a review because I am always concerned that my favorite little natural products will get too popular and then swallowed up by one of the corporate big guys only to change their formula and ruin my life! But alas, it is selfish of me to keep this little gem to myself. Simple put, this is the BEST vaseline alternative out there. Hands down. I have used other options because I love what vaseline does. It is a perfect skin protectant and moisture barrier. I discovered that using vaseline was an excellent preventor of diaper rash when my kids were babies and staved me off from having to use those medicinal creams. It also was a great overnight option for my very dry feet or our family's chapped lips. But then I became leary of petroleum jelly and how it may harm out bodies. So I set out to find a petroleum-free product. I have tried all the options found in big-box stores but most feel VERY sticky and waxy. baby-ganics makes a decent one, but I didn't like it enough to keep buying it once my little one was older. So I kept searching. Funnily enough, this one is called Waxelene and it is the least waxy of them all! It has a perfect texture. It is thick and very pronounced like you would expect from something that is a petroleum jelly alternative, but it doesn't leave you feeling like a lint-roller once you have applied it. I initially bought it in the small tubes in a local store to try it as a lip balm. I then became obsessed and bought them for everyone I knew....AND THEN I FOUND THE JAR! BUY THE JAR! You will love it. It has a clean, pleasant smell, a small dab works great on the lips and it eventually absorbs. It provides the moisture barrier that you are looking for, but you can feel really good about knowing that it's safe. BUY the Jar...trust me!

The skin on the T-zone area of my face is constantly flaking, itchy and red. And sometimes it goes into my eyebrows which makes it look like I have dandruff on my face. I've tried so many different products (prescription eczema creams/ointments, creams for dermatitis, nivea soft creme, sensitive facial lotions, vaseline...etc) and nothing else has helped! I saw a smaller sized bottle of this at Bed, Bath and Beyond...so I decided to give it a try since I already love beeswax candles and lip products. I loved it to much that I opted to get this larger sized bottle from Amazon. I had used this product for about a week and my T-zone has not flaked or itched at all! This does not irritate my skin (and believe me, I have very sensitive skin and have had severe eczeme growing up). It does leave a slight sheen on your skin but it's not as shiny as petroleum jelly so you're able to head out the door without looking like a baby that just got buttered up by mom. It has a very faint sweet smell from the beeswax and the rosemary adds a nice touch. Don't worry about the scent being overpowering as it is very faint and pleasant smelling (although, my husband who doesn't have allergies claimed he could not smell it at all). I read some other reviews where people complained about the gritty texture. I found that it seems gritty in the container, but once you scoop some product out and apply it to your skin, it doesn't seem gritty at all because you're rubbing it out and it smoothes out on your skin easily. I will definately be a lifetime customer to this product seeing as it has many different uses for it.

This product is very natural, with only four ingredients: vitamin E, soybean oil, beeswax, and rosemary oil. I even contacted Waxelene to make sure these were the only four products. They were very prompt and said yes! :) I was looking into alternatives to petroleum jelly, as we continue to deplete fossil fuels by obtaining petroleum; I wanted to lessen my own carbon footprint. I also wanted to be using a more natural substance because I had researched and found out that petroleum can potentially have damaging effects when used on the skin. This product fit the bill. It comes in a glass jar, instead of a plastic container. Waxelene has a fairly smooth, thick consistency. It is not as smooth and creamy as petroleum jelly, but I expected that because it has beeswax in it. The scent is very soothing and natural. If you are not used to natural smells it might take a little getting used to, but the smell only lasts a minute after putting it on so I don't think it should be an issue. It may seem pricey, but it lasts for a long time. I use it for my face and it works great. It doesn't leave my face super shiny. It rubs nicely into my skin. You will feel great knowing you are helping save the environment and at the same time putting natural products onto your skin!

I think I stumbled unto this product while I was doing some kind of search on Google one day, and when I read about it, I did get a little curious as to whether or not this would actually be good. With that said, I took a chance and bought this here on Amazon, and let me just say that this is a very cool alternative to petroleum jelly, which I won't use because of how harmful it is. First and foremost, it smells great, and it doesn't feel greasy at all on your skin, which is a big plus. Also, it's really smooth and you don't need a lot of it when you apply it. With petroleum jelly, you'll find that you will have to apply a bit more of that, than you would with the Waxelene. Another great thing about this, obviously, is that it only contains natural ingredients like the organic rosemary oil, vitamin e, and beeswax, which is a great benefit for your skin and overall health in general. This stuff can be used in quite a few other ways too, which makes it a really good buy for your money. I'll definitely be back on Amazon to buy more of this, once my first jar runs out. As long as you're not allergic to any of the ingredients in Waxelene, I honestly recommend taking a chance on this product and trying it out for yourself. We’ve been using and promoting Waxeline for more than a decade. Despite this company suddenly nearly doubling their price a few years ago we remained loyal because, in the end, there’s nothing else we’ve been able to find on the market that delivers the truly therapeutic results we get from this product. In my case, it’s absolutely the best way to keep my hands moisturized preventing 90+% of potential eczema flare-ups. In my wife’s case it’s an essential on her face. It especially serves as a best way to manage dry skin anytime its necessary (especially on feet). It’s uniquely non-greasy in comparison to so many other products we’ve experimented with over the years. And its mild neutral scent especially welcomed. But this last batch was surprisingly awful with respect to its “chunky” consistency throughout the entire 9 oz. jar. It’s sortof like that particular batch in the manufacturing process didn’t get enough mixing / blending in order to reach the typical creamy consistency we’ve depended on for so long. Fortunately, a little vigorous hand rubbing heat quickly dissolves the “chunks.” Nonetheless, and especially given the premium price this company charges for their product, I’m surprised. Despite this recent issue, it still gets a five-star rating solely because it delivers results we've been unable to achieve elsewhere. In the mean time, I’m holding my breath in hopes the next jar we order will deliver the same quality product we’ve been enjoying for so long. We’ll see.

**This is a review for lip care. I have oily skin and no real problem areas, so I used Waxelene on my lips only** Original Review: I've been adding "shiny stuff" to my lips since elementary school, so that's 20+ years of trial and error... I bought this 3 months ago and it's still full. One jar of the 2oz waxelene lasted 5 months so this 9oz jar will probably last 2 years at that rate...I have non-paper thin lips, but if you have thin lips it'll last a lot longer...anyway, I didn't apply this more than your average good quality lip gloss, but I definitely applied it less than cheap chapsticks or petroleum-based products. It seemed to stay on my lips a lot longer and not soak into my lips as fast as other products. If I was paying attention, I probably applied it 3-4 times a day vs. 5-10 with other products. I love smooth lips and used to do a lip scrub every 2 weeks or so for maintenance, but Waxelene allowed me to do 1 every 3 months or so...the smell grew on me, but I wasn't a fan initially. It smells like cooking oil mixed with "Earth" which is not great, but it's not the end of the world. Nothing will ever compare to the smell (and taste lol) of passion fruit lip gloss, but Waxelene is a close second for quality. Overall, if you have thin lips, you will probably have this for years. If you use it for other body parts or find household uses for it, you may run out in a few months. For the health conscious people out there, it is made from the Earth and is worth buying. It gets a good grade in my book and I recommend it to all. Edited Review: It's been exactly 2 years and I still have the Waxelene. I don't use it as often as I used to & the texture has deteriorated some (kinda gelatinous)...I scooped the bad texture out with a spoon & threw it away. I have about 2 tablespoons of the nice creamy Waxelene left so it should last 3 months if used regularly. Overall, I can say that this big jar, if used for lips only, should last at least 1.5 to 2.5 years. Satisfied!

Ahhh! Those are my cracked hands after a dose of Waxeline. I love this stuff because a tiny dab makes your hands soft and supple, and the jar seems to last forever. Except the last jar I bought lasted less than one day. I was traveling home and bought a jar at a local drugstore for a very small amount of money (on sale). I confidently packed it in my luggage, and headed off for Ronald Reagan Airport. I never thought I'd get stopped by the TSA. The agent honed right in on the jar, and even though it was still sealed with plastic around the cover, I was told that it was a "liquid or gel" and had to be confiscated. Well, not exactly. I could get out of line, leave the airport and go to a post office and mail it home, then return to the airport, get back in line and go through security a second time without the Waxelene, missing my flight. Or I could check the tiny bag I had used for my overnight visit. to do that, I'd also have to leave the line, get in the airport line to check the tiny bag, get back in the security line and miss my flight. The gotcha for most of the options is that I was in a wheelchair, which limits my speed through the airport. Not to mention that the airport wheelchair-pusher didn't seem really thrilled by my having to go back through a huge terminal, ride a bus to the main terminal and get in line to check a bag. I asked what made it a liquid or gel, since it clearly wasn't either. She opened the jar, got a metal rod and shoved it into the cream. Apparently, being able to shove the rod into the substance made it a liquid or gel. I love this stuff, but it was smarter and easier for me to buy it through Amazon. I did exactly that, and am a happy campette! Now I am older and wiser and know where I can get my Waxelene fix.

*****update, so I still vehemently stand behind this product as far as the quality but the price point that this has jumped to since I started using this product YEARS ago is outrageous. The first time I bought the large jar I spent maybe $15 bucks on it at a local cvs and now it’s crazily priced because celebrities endorse it. I can’t fathom paying so much for it no matter how much I like it at this point. Waxelene. Ever since I came across this product nearly 4 years ago, I have never gone without it. It is my must have for so many reasons. I work in a very harsh environment, travel a LOT and have sensitive skin. I use this gold on my lips, skin, hair, tattoo healing, after sun, my pets, for eczema and soon to be my first baby! It’s seriously the perfect product. If they sold it in 5 gallon buckets, I would likely invest! I sometimes scoop some into smaller, purse size containers and add a drop or two of my fave essential oils...so awesome. I've turned countless friends and family members into fiends, I mean fans ;-) as well. Love love love you Waxelene!

It works very well, ingredients are simple and natural ! I prefer this to Vaseline. I am using it for my face and lips, since I started taking accutane. The price was a little high, but it seems to be quality and I think it will last long. I'm very stratified at the moment.

A wonderful balm that transforms the skin day by day to a beautiful healthy condition. I would recommend this product it’s very good.

I keep buying this again every month as they don't sell it in Australia, I love waxelene ! Takes about 3 weeks to a month to arrive but happy to wait

Love this alternative to Vaseline. I will continue to buy and use for as long as it's available. I do however mix it with a creamy moisturizer

Works great as an alternative to Vasoline. My son has severe eczema and it keeps his skin moisturized and controls the flare ups. Just wish it was cheaper as we need so much of it.
