Excellent novel
I especially liked the story about the child who was left behind by the wagon train and picked up by an Indian and taken to his tribe. Her life story after is very well told and kept me interested throughout the novel.

beautiful story!
This has to be one of the most beautiful stories I've ever read! It's my first by Jane Kirkpatrick, but she can count on me buying more of her books in the future. It's a story of belonging, losing, finding again. A story of closing the circle. The prose is warm and nurturing and refreshing, meant to be savored slowly with an eye toward entering the life and soul of the main character, not a story to be chowed down after only a day or two with little mental engagement. If you want a story that starts out with a certain crisis and moves on at a fast pace, don't read this book. But if you appreciate literature that delves deep into the heart of people, if you can have patience with words crafted with care and excellence, I believe you will enjoy this novel.

I liked the growth in the character
I liked the growth in the character, and her discovery of herself and God. Asiam’s discovery of God’s grace was thought provoking. I did feel that certain parts of her journey took forever.

Another fascinating story from Jane Kirkpatrick
I struggled with the first half of this long book, probably because I live in Australia and am not familiar with the native American culture and history. Once I reached the halfway point where it reconnected with the characters from the previous book I finished it in 24 hours and enjoyed it very much.
