Julia Donaldson The Snail and the Whale & The Smartest Giant in Town, for use with toniebox, ages 3+

This is a great addition to my daughter’s Tonie collection. First the story is read out, then the story is read with a musical sound to tell children when to turn the page if they are following the story using a book. Then a song ! The Giant Story follows using the same pattern - story, follow along and a song. Great to have a story!

This Julia Donaldson Tonies set featuring The Snail and the Whale and The Smartest Giant in Town is fantastic. Our autistic son really enjoys listening to these stories, and having the physical books to follow along with makes the experience even better for him. The audio narration is clear and engaging, capturing the charm of Julia Donaldson’s storytelling perfectly. It’s a great way to encourage listening skills and imagination. The Toniebox compatibility makes it very easy for kids to use independently, which is a big plus for us. Highly recommend for families looking for interactive, inclusive storytelling options that can support children with special needs.

This was a birthday present for my 3 year old grandson. One of his favourite stories. Brilliant for bedtime but also for long car journeys.

If I could do half a star I would give it 3.5. Ok, yes the stories were good. You get two by the way. Told well by the storytellers. Hence, why the running time was up(running time= 50+ mins). I give it a 4 star maybe. BUT,, again it felt very repetitive, even with the songs. Why couldn’t it have more songs, or a run-off story. Maybe a Q&A about the story for kids. Like; “What did the giant give the fox??”. Most annoying too was in the middle and end of listening to it, it goes into the legal jargon. No kid or parent wants to hear that. Other tonies don’t have it? Ok, some do, lol. Why is this?? And it makes me laugh when they say they make it shown on the “Tracklist”. Umm, NO, stating who made it, and when, copyright stuff. Like nope, didn’t see that in the list. So, if you want a unique story, yes, add to collection. But be prepared if it annoys kids and ruins the listening fun. I got it as I wanted different Tonies. This one was fish/sea related, something my 5yr old loves. I was more sold on the look than story, lol. Either way we keeping it. Painted nicely, and very detailed little snail.
