40" Polypropylene Rapier Training Sword

I love this thing! Got it today and I am in love with it. Already began practicing with the Rapier and I can't wait to wear it to the RenFaire. That being said, there are two main concerns I have seen people comment about which almost put me off buying this. - The first is that blade is slightly bent. I feel like this is to be expected because the blade is meant to bend upon impact. Significant bends can be bent back. However, with the bend in mind, it is easy for the bottom of the hilt all the way to tip to be a straight line, even if the blade bends slightly on the way there. - Some folk claim the handguard doesn't stay on. I am not sure if they fixed it, but I think that is because they put it on wrong. The handguard requires a decent amount of force to lock it in place. Once locked in place, it isn't going anywhere. It's a push, turn, and lock style mechanism. Before I ensured I turned it all the way, I did have problems with it coming off. So, to those having this issue, simply turn it all the way to the right as intended.

Bought this to complete my fit for an out of town ren faire. Didn’t want any problems with TSA. When it arrived the flat black finish was the only negative. It dismantled easily. Painted the blade in metallic gray and the hilt in metallic black. This rapier is an excellent choice for anyone going to a ren faire. It offers a great combination of performance, and authenticity, all at an affordable price. I highly recommend this sword.

I teach olympic fencing to kids part-time, for which our club uses some Italian-made plastic swords. However since I was unable to get one for myself at the moment, I opted for this one upon recommendation from a friend. It is certainly not a bad tool. On its pros, it has a really good shape and its details. The blade flexes really well when thrusting and is not bad with cutting actions. The grip is comfortable when used either as a foil or a sabre. (Although I wish it left 2 more millimetres of space for the tip of the thumb when held in a handshake grip). The material also seems sturdy and durable and mine has seen some abuse in a short time, and although it looks curved in some pictures, the blade which has a good distal taper, seems to be straightening over time. Its downsides are certainly its price, I had no issues with the cup as someone else claimed to have had, but it cost more than other plastic fencing swords of similar size and construction. Its other downside is the geometry of the blade, since it is a regular octagon it may as well have been rounded since there is no feeling of edge alignment, I think an elongated cross-section would have been easy to produce the same way without hurting any other good aspects of the design and without adding much to the cost.

I would say it has a weird look to its blade I like it is built with hard plastic that I would not worry about the only thing I would be worried about is the cup guard thing. It is very light and it is worth the price

Ahoy there, fellow adventurers! An inspiring swashbuckler has entered the chat! First off, I snagged this item because, let’s be honest, I’m a sword enthusiast—it’s like my version of collecting stamps, but with more “swish” and less “whoops, I cut the envelope!” I’m also itching to get back into practicing my fencing skills. Who doesn’t want to channel their inner Zorro or duel like a true pirate? Plus, I’ve got my sights set on reenacting some epic scenes from classic films like *The Princess Bride*. I mean, who wouldn’t want to yell “As you wish!” while brandishing a sword? It’s a great film, by the way—definitely more charming than a parrot perched on your shoulder! ( i almost forgot to mention the guard for the sword won't stay on or stay lock in to place.

I'm still giving this 5 stars even though it came bent. After all it is a rapier style sword so it is expected to bend. All you have to do is bend it back by hand, which is fairly easy. The hand guard also fits nice and tight, if yours doesn't then you're most likely not putting it on right, as it does require a bit of force on to tighten it on. Other than the bend, it looks great and feels great in the hand.

The hilt broke and it warps really easy but other than that it's good

EDIT: While sparring, the thing broke into two pieces. This was maybe on its 5th or 6th session of use. Highly recommend against it. I got one, and a friend got one to practice fencing. On the first use, my friend lunged towards me, and I moved the Rapier up to parry. Her blade hit the cup on my handle, and with a loud CRACK, it just went spinning. Upon closer inspection, it seems like the plastic pieces holding it to the handle completely snapped, flying into literal pieces. The fact that it just broke during first use is disappointing. It wasn't a particularly harsh round. Giving it 2 stars since the body of the sword itself is quite solid and can still be used as a sabre, but for this price I was definitely expecting more than one session of keeping it together.
