Three-disc set includes: Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes (2011) A research scientist (James Franco) tests a drug on a group of chimpanzees, greatly increasing their intelligence before he's forced to put them all down. That is, all but Caesar (Andy Serkis in a voice and motion-capture performance), one of the test subjects' offspring, whose enhanced brain capacity enables him to lead his fellow primates in a violent revolution against humanity. Provocative reboot of the classic sci-fi film series also stars Freida Pinto, John Lithgow. 105 min. C/Rtg: PG-13 Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes (2014) Ten years after a devastating virus wiped out much of humanity, a small band of survivors in San Francisco has established an uneasy peace with chimpanzee Caesar (a motion-captured Andy Serkis who also supplies his voice) and his community of intelligent apes who live in the nearby Muir Woods. But co-existence may be ultimately out of reach as members of both species seem bound and determined to make war. Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell co-star in this hit sequel. 130 min. C/Rtg: PG-13 War For The Planet Of The Apes (2017) The third chapter in the rebooted sci-fi film franchise finds ape leader Caesar's (Andy Serkis in a voice and motion-capture performance) forces locked in a desperate conflict with the Colonel (Woody Harrelson), a ruthless human whose army also includes a group of traitorous primates. As the war reaches it's apex, the virus that decimated much of humanity begins to cause some of the remaining survivors to slowly devolve into more primitive creatures. With Steve Zahn, Karin Konoval, Amiah Miller. Review: Great movies, great 4K video and great price - These are the best "Planet of the Apes" movies ever made. Forget the Charlton Heston ones or the Tim Burton one - these are it. Compelling story line, great acting, excellent dialog and mind-bogglingly good special effects. The CGI apes are absolutely believable real and nothing like the old rubber masks. They may not be able to do CGI humans yet (they still fall into the "uncanny valley") but for the ape characters here, you WILL believe! The 4K video and the DTS HD-MA audio are spectacular. Some folks complain about the lack of Dolby ATMOS audio but how many of us actually have ceiling channel speakers in our home theaters? I got these at a stupidly good price (just $18 US) just before Xmas 2023 and even though I already have them in HD on Blu-ray discs (don't tell my wife!), it was worth the low price to make the video upgrade. Oh well, the local library gets the old box set... I can't wait for the fourth film to come out next year! I'll have to get it in UHD when it comes out as well and will probably pay more for that than for these three in this box set. How stupid is that? Review: Rare trilogy that improves with its sequels - These just get better as they go.

A perfect box set for a perfect trilogy
What can I say that hasn't already been said? This trilogy is magnificent and is up there for one of my favorite trilogies ever put to screen. Each move builds on the last and the expansive, epic story brings along action, spectacle, and emotions, all culminating in an incredible conclusion. RISE answers the question “why we shouldn't mess with mother nature; it introduces us to our protagonist Caeser and shows how the oppressed will rise up, no matter how much we try to contain them. Each scene just flows from one I the next and nothing is in the movie that doesn”t contribute to the overall story. DAWN brings us the middle chapter, and my personal favorite. It expands our understanding of Caeser and how much he wants peace but will do whatever for his own kind. On the opposite side is Koba: an ape born in hatred and fear of humans which leads both our main characters into an battle of epic proportions for the earth. WAR breaks down Caeser and strips away everything that defined him previously. His wife and child are killed leading him on a quest for revenge but also for a purpose. This one out of the entire trilogy really focuses on Caeser’s inner demons and what makes him tick; how it does this is profound and the only way I can describe it to you is for you to just watch it. In the end, BU THE TRILOGY. The 4k transfer is crisp and you feel as if you were standing right next to Caeser. Also, the box set has an embossed feeling on it which is really cool and just an added layer of awesome. BUY IT! BUY IT NOW!

Missing code?
I bought 2 copies of this due to missing the first movies code. No need to do that. The movies are fantastic and Fox/Disney will give you the code if you contact them for it. They will require proof and no need to waste perfectly good Blu-rays just for a code that won't be in there. Outside of that 10/10 on the movies and quality of the audio and video. Also, 10/10 on their customer support. I just redeemed these as others have said on APPLE so that I could retain the 4K versions. No need to risk maybe getting 1080p. Booo!

Good Movies, Missing Code
I had a similar experience to several other reviewers - everything looks great and works, and it's very reasonably priced, but "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" was missing its digital download code.

Great quality DVDs
Amazing! Love these movies, haha. The DVDs themselves are a great quality. I like the box set. The little cover that says 4K is separate and sometimes falls off, but minor details.

HDX STREAMING CODES HAVE ME GOING APE...
The top reviewer is correct. Verifying the digital codes using, 20th Century Fox, Movies Anywhere, and Fandango redemption websites, register all codes as HDX... So what does that mean? It means the codes will only stream at 1080p @24fps.... Vudu and Fandango claim HDX allegedly doubles that, but your still stuck on a 1080p screen ratio! So that's a lie, it's still not a true 4k image, its still 1080p, DUH!... And forget about streaming Dolby ATMOS for WAR, you're only going to get Dolby 5.1 for all streaming movies, peasants! To me, this set doesn't feel like a sweet deal at all, but more like a fast one Twentieth Century Fox unloaded on unsuspecting fans of the 'Planet of the Apes' franchise, I would return it if I could, but I'm stuck with it and left put out. With that being said, I'm going to be very cautious buying anything from Twentieth Century Fox far into the future, AND RECOMMEND THAT OTHERS ONLY BUY THIS BUNDLE WHEN ITS ON SALE. When I spend the extra money to buy the 4k version of a movie with a digital code, I expect it to be a 4k UHD digital code, if I buy a Blue Ray I expect a HDX code, like I get from other VERY EXPENSIVE 4k/BR distributors!... I don't know if this is an error from Twentieth Century Fox or their packaging department? But as far as I am concerned I DID NOT GET WHAT I PAID FOR, Twentieth Century Fox owes me 4k streaming codes I just purchased, because according to FANDANGO, that's exactly what I should have got in this bundle! As for the audio on the disks, get this... Out of all 4K disks, only 'War' has Dolby Atmos. 'Rise' has 5.1 DTS-HDMA. 'Dawn' has 7.1 DTS-HDMA.

A SUPERB ACTION-PACKED SERIES FOR 4K FORMAT
The Planet of the Apes seen by some as either a remake or indeed reboot of the fondly watched the 60s - Mid 70s series is in my view simply a rethink in terms of storyline. Though arguably thin on script and storyline flow the series does have superb visual effects to bolster its appeal and if you can buy the 4k version is greatly enhanced by the Ultra Format. The story tells of Caesar who is brilliantly played by the multi-talented Andy Serkis Rise - Telling of how a young chimp whose mother known as bright eyes had been given a drug to try and diminish the effects of Alzheimer's in humans at a San Franciso Lab and had shown increased intelligence by its use. However, when pregnant Bright Eyes runs amuck through the complex forcing the management to curtail the trials The apes in the program would be put-down, however the baby chimp known as Caesar is rescued by chemist Will Rodman (James Franco) and taken home to live with his Father (John Lithgow) along with his partner Caroline (Freida Pinto). The family grow fond of the young chimp who shows he has inherited his mother's intelligence and some. As he gets older he longs to play with the neighbours children who he can see playing from his bedroom window, however, out of ignorance the neighbours reject Caesar's enthusiasm. Some time on Will's father who has Alzheimer's trys to drive the family car but shunts neighbour's cars in the process leading to an angry reaction from a neighbour., which Caesar witnesses and goes to rescue Charles. His action lands him taken to a primate centre and caged. Will does all he can to secure Caesars release, but, when it becomes possible Caesar who has made friends among his own refuses to leave the centre. With his intelligence level is seen as a leader among the apes held there. With cruelty from centre employee's Caesar and those who now follow him plan an escape. Releasing many apes from the area they set out to establish a home of their own the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge, which is where Will learns that Caesar can talk. in Dawn - Caesar' and his followers have built their own compound in the forests beyond 'San Francisco' over the past decade. Mankind is in decline they have been ravaged by a pandemic, the cities have all but been laid to waste, the peace between man and ape survives as long as they stay apart. After an incident close to the Apes compound and a brief meeting between Man and Ape, 'Caesar' who understands human-kind warns 'Malcolm' (Jason Clarke) and his team to stay away from the forest where he and his followers live. There is an element of the Apes that crave war against their once captors, only the logic of their leader prevents it. The people living within the city boundaries have become desperate, they have little or no power-source, in the forest there is a 'dam' which could generate the power they need, but will 'Caesar' permit a human presence close by. 'Malcolm' who had been in the party involved in the earlier incident seeks consultation with 'Caesar' to try and reach an agreement to allow a small team to try and get the generator running if an agreement can be reached there will be no need for war, 'Caesar' cautiously agree's on the understanding that the humans do not carry weapons. 'Caesar' (Andy Serkis) wants to give mankind a chance to co-exist but knows how frail an agreement with man can be, he just hopes. 'Koba' (Toby Kebbell) has no trust of humans and takes it upon himself with a few others with similar views to find a warehouse where the humans have a large stock-pile of weaponry, 'Koba' knows that it is more than enough to wipe the Apes out if used against them. Meanwhile back at the Dam 'Caesar' watches over the human teams progress, however because of the action taken by 'Koba' trust is wearing thin, the prospect of war becomes even closer. 'Koba's' betrayal will change the course of history, can 'Caesar' re-take control before it's too late or has the line already been crossed.? War - This is a sprawling and exciting epic that lays the grounding for what is yet to come, the film will draw you in from the outset, with some terrific action sequences and an underlying will from both 'Caesar' and 'Malcolm' to maintain the peace between them. Brilliant and Eye-Popping Special Effects Throughout, a spectacle to behold indeed In Battle - The Human military have been called in to deal with the apes led by 'The Colonel' (Woody Harrelson) ruthless and determined to wipe out the apes. Though the Apes led by Caesar do have moments of success in battle they are in truth heavily outgunned by the colonel's command. Caesar because of his upbringing has always believed there to be good among humans, however when close family members are slaughtered at what was previously a secret location by the colonel who had led a small squad to the place Caesar only has revenge in mind. The colonel had been directed there by an ape captured earlier Winter nicknamed donkey by the soldiers, though Winter cannot be forgiven for his treachery he will at a later stage redeem himself some. In the search for the colonel assisted by a small group of trusted apes including Maurice (Karin Konoval ) a friend he'd made at the compound before their quest for freedom. Along the way they come across a young girl who was scared and on her own Nova (Amiah Miller ) who is mute, Nova will happily tag along with the Apes. When they find the colonels new compound the discover that the community they'd left behind had been captured, caged and forced to work strengthening the compound's defences. Caesar will be caught tortured and imprisoned whilst the colonel decides what to do with him. However, Maurice and the team Caesar had come with are free and will set about trying to free Caesar and the rest of the apes. But, why is the colonel so intent on strengthening the defences ? Seems he has not followed his brief and decided to simply do things his way, another force has been sent to deal with the colonel and his renegades. Will Caesar and the captured Apes escape before the battle between two human forces gets under - way. Sadly not all the key characters among the apes will survive and live to see The Promised Land found by Caesar's son earlier. Though, again, superb special-effects and glorious 4k I did feel the third film to be the weakest of the trilogy. Overall at the current price of around £25 the set is great value for money.
