Is the outside of the Solo hot to touch when fire is burning?

Yes, the outside of the Solo gets hot! The bottom ring that protects the ground from the fire pit stays cool enough to touch. Great stove - everyone who has shared a fire with us wants one!

Where is the stove made?

Although the Solo Stoves headquarters are in Fort Worth Texas, the stoves are made in China.

If used with a stand will the heat kill grass if used on a lawn?

I don't think so, as they indicate that the stand directs heat away from surfaces (such as a wooden deck). However, I am not 100% sure, as I use mine on a stone surface.

Does this come with the carrying case as well as the stand?
