Train works great on the Thomas the Train wooden train tracks. Some reviews mentioned that the train wouldn't pull up hills but it worked well going up and over the bridges on our track. The remote works with no problems. Forward, reverse, the horn, and lights all work well. We bought the train for our grandson on his 5th birthday and he loves playing with the train. His younger sister is 2 1/2 years old and with a little supervision she is able to use the remote as well. The train engine and passenger car are well made but the remote is plastic and I feel is a little cheaply made. I'm hoping it holds up.

This is the neatest new addition to my grandsons' wooden train track set. Has a remote control that hooks up wirelessly with the engine and has train sounds with it, too. The engine even produces a smoke effect coming from its smoke stack that is just a visible water vapor produced from a refillable water reservoir in the engine itself. The car with the water supply squeeze tank is carried by one of the train cars and the "steam" effect of the engine and the train sounds and engine direction can all be controlled with the remote. And the engine has an LED headlight that operates, too!

My child and I have recently started and expanded “our” wooden train collection including battery engines to pull all the cars. Naturally, this involved practically purchasing most battery engines on the market to compare them against each other. This bullet engine was put to the test against its steam engine design counterpart offered by the same company that is controllable with a remote as well (has fwd/reverse lights/sounds), Brios Mighty Red and h2o Steam Engine, and then the single button basic locomotive offered by the same company as this bullet engine. Hands down this bullet engine is the best. It operates on two AA batteries and this provides superior power and speed compared to all of those tested, most of which run off of one AA or more commonly available one to two AAA batteries. It was able to easily post the best time when put to speed lap tests and was able to pull the most cars out of those tested both on flat tracks and going up a single or double incline. Now, add in the fact that you get (and this is important) a line of sight remote to control your trains and this set goes over the top. You can control up to two trains (A&B Signal) from one remote with Fwd/Reverse, Train Horn, & Light control offered from the remote. My suggestion would to be to also pick up the compatible Locomotive black Steam engine that is offered by this same company and pair these two engines off the same remote. Note, this black steam engine came in second in our testing, it runs off one AA battery so is pretty powerful and fast, just not as much as this two AA battery Bullet engine model. Well my rambling has come to an end hope this was helpful and to summarize if you’re looking for one battery engine to buy for your wooden train set, look no further. You’ve found the one.

We bought this for Christmas and already it has broken. It worked well for a few weeks but then the battery compartment came loose and won’t screw back on, one of the washers has come loose and won’t go back in. We now cannot close the battery compartment or use it anymore. Trash.

Good train but the smoke function stopped creating the smoke in less than two weeks. The RC does the job but the layout of the buttons isn't ideal.

Perfect for our 2 year old! Seems plenty strong for a child's set. The "steam" is a small mist, so it's not hot.

This is definitely an upgrade from the locomotive included in the set I purchased for my 2 1/2 year old grandson! It is so much easier for him to turn on and off and he understood the remote very quickly. Seems well made and he has put it thru the paces already.

We had to order a replacement because the remote stopped working after a few hours of use. The replacement was fine but then the train car stopped working. Unfortunately it was outside of the allowed time frame to return. Otherwise we would have returned it.
