I have a number of hydroponic gardens from different manufacturers, and almost all of the sponges are different sizes. My wife has a small FAFAGRASS garden in the kitchen with ‘her’ plants, so I ordered these to refill it. Of course, these were the perfect fit.One thing that I like about these sponges is that they have crosses cut in the top instead of just a hole in the middle. When I use these, I can stick one seed in the middle, then four more inside the cuts halfway between the center and the end. This way, with five seeds, I’m sure to get a few seeds to germinate in each one, and they’re separated well if you want to thin them out after they start growing.As far as growing goes, I don’t see much difference between these and my other ones. I do find that while my other sponges will grow fuzzy mold on them, which doesn’t seem to affect the plants, these sponges seem to grow a green moss instead. Again, this doesn’t seem to affect the plants, but it looks a lot nicer than white fuzzy mold, my wife says that the moss is pretty.You’ve got a lot of choices when it comes to replacement sponges, but I really like these. They may not be the cheapest, but my plants grow long enough that saving a few cents per plant isn’t a big issue for me. I like these sponges, so they’re what I’ll order.

Easy to use and worth the money

I'm terrible with tiny seeds so I poke a hole in the center of the two lines on these and then drop three or four in. I'm using these for butter crisp lettuce and of 24 I had 23 sprout overnight. The last one turned all fuzzy and didn't sprout after 5 days so I rinsed it off, nuked it, and stuck in a new set of seeds that sprouted in two days. Microwaves are awesome!These are a little over 50 cents each. I've been using DIY cut sponge material that is a bit tough for the plants but works nonetheless at a fraction of that price. Prior to that I used some sponges that were in the 25 cent range. I like these but can't justify the extra expense.

I bought these after trying the less expensive ones. The less expensive ones were too long for the baskets and had to be cut off. So, I purchased the "brand" name sponges thinking I would get ones like came with the machine. THEY ARE NOT! They are exactly like the less expensive ones I purchased.

IThese work better than others I have tried. I've tried other brands and have not had much luck which is surprising because usually everything grows.

These are longer and do not fit in the cages-I had to cut them down it fit and they still do not fill out the cage fully in diameter.

That said these can be a little tall for some of my indoor gardens but can be trimmed down. I have had no issues with roots getting bound and not growing through or these not fitting well enough with some slight adjustment.I have had herbs and lettuce grow in these very well. I am happy with the price and the fact they work so well.Highly recommended.

These are good value and it soaks up water really well. Which means it doesn’t dry out on top. Easy to germinate and definitely a great value!
