Based on not installing yet these are built like a tank. I hope they hold up to our new glass shower door use

These hinges were purchased to replace two existing hinges on my shower door. As shown in the picture, the bottom hinge had been improperly installed with a massive amount of silicone caulk to hold the glass in place. That resulted a worn out hinge making a loud poping sound as the door is opened and closed. Good thing (not mentioned in the listing) is each of these hinges comes with 3 gaskets (1.5 mm thick each) and with a 8 mm thick glass, the gaskets are sufficient to fill the hinge openning of about 12 mm. I am happy that the hinges are exact duplicates and the door works perfectly after replacement. Just to point it out, it is possible to do an in-place install without door removal if you have 2 people to do it. 1. Loosen the wall mount screws slightly so they can be easily taken out later. 2. Let one person inside, use wood shims to shim the door against the bottom and the side wall to fix it in place. 3. Remove the wall mount screws and the hinge screws. 4. The peron outside can then take the old hinge out and hold the new one in place. 5. New mount screws are installed. 6. Assemble the new hinge plate with the 3 supplied gaskets. 7. Take the door shims out. Note that in step 6, before putting on the plate, it may be helpful to use small pieces of nylon strips to fill any slacks between the glass and the hinge screws. Yes, it is a great purchase and a tremendous value.

First off, I'm guessing the positive reviews haven't used them long enough to experience the full joy in these shiny little practical jokes. I installed four in my custom walk in shower. Worked great. Until it didn't... The rubber grip kept slipping and allowing the glass doors to sag to the point of hitting each other. Re tightened multiple times to the point of stripping the hex head screws... Still sagging. Then came the rust. Did I mention RUST?!!! Now I realize that I didn't pay for the best hinge available, but what manufacturer puts a mild steel spring inside a shower door hinge without adding a little nickel (aka stainless steel)? The rust got so bad that my marble threshold got stained with rust. So to sum it up... for the $52 I spent on the four hinges I got: rust stains on my marble, lost time for multiple reinstallations, and having to buy the most expensive hinges available to match the holes cut out for these piles of excrement. Bonus? A wife who had patiently endured two years of living in a tiny, moldy rental shack while I personally built our home - who then had to deal with non-working shower doors off and on for the better part of a year while I looked for replacements to match cutouts. Would I recommend these? Yes. I would recommend them to salesmen who cheat old ladies. And to politicians (all of them). Oh, and to rich, exotic prince's who want to give me lots of money after I give them my bank account info. And to whoever owns those robo-calling telemarketing companies trying to sell health care insurance. Did I miss anyone who you would wish these on? If so, by all means let me know so I can add to the list. In the meantime run, don't walk, from these pieces of junk.
