Yoga Nidra: The Art of Transformational Sleep Review: Best book about Yoga Nidra I am aware of - With almost 400 pages, this book provides such a wealth of excellent resources and practical tools about the transformative and powerful yet very subtle practice of Yoga Nidra. Essentially, the author not only provides in-depth explanations of the philosophy of Yoga Nidra, but also a plethora of information as to its practical applications and benefits. This book is written with great details and provides a deeper understanding of the history and science of Yoga Nidra as well as how to apply these ancient secrets of Yoga Nidra to our daily lives. In the concluding third section of this book, the author also presents useful information about how to best practice the art of Yoga Nidra. I began reading the book with the chapter about Karma, which was the most comprehensive writing I ever came across regarding this subject. It was wonderful to learn that Karma is not as disempowering as what we have been taught before and that Karma is some sort of a punishment for bad actions from the past. During my healing process, it was liberating and empowering to say the least to understand that Karma is in fact simple consequences. Other than covering the topic of Karma, Kamini Desai also provides wonderful information about the brainwaves, Koshas, Samskaras, and how to use intention in our daily life, just to name a few here. In essence, her book provided me with a clear roadmap on how to apply the six tools of Yoga Nidra which are Realization, Integration, Dis-Identification, Intention, Relaxation, and Restoration. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested not only to read the most in-depth and detailed guide about Yoga Nidra I know of, but who also wants to embark on a journey back home to source through a transformational process of uncovering and pursuing one’s life purpose. Review: It works. I tried it on myself and worked first time. - I been reading about Swami Rama who was able to use Yoga Nidra to get to deep levels of sleep, and remain consciously awake - I took his Himalayan Institute (i think that’s the name) classes on Yoga Nidra, and I remembered to hold attention at the throat while doing this. So I bought this book, and as my phone was playing the audio for it, I just held my attention on my throat, added this books ideas to my practice and I loosened the grip on mind as THIS book kept suggesting best I could, and suddenly I felt the energy move all around my body. At one point it started increasing and vibrating in my forehead, then played around there a bit, then moved down my nose, and started moving again ... and foolish me tried “control the horse” (as book said not to do) and energy stopped moving on its own. That’s ok I’ll loosen up with more practice. But it was great! This book is authentic in its theoretical teaching, I know other reviewers are not liking there is only one script, but really the essential idea (from my previous experience of this practice) is just too loosen up. Script means you are trying to do something - instead the author here is trying to say “Become a witness.” And the energy will do is own thing. This book theoretical and practical explanations are completely sound. Pray not be misled by others who say the book does not offer way to stimulate practice, or ways or tools to control the state, like more scripts, etc. - it’s the exact opposite- don’t try to control. Loosen up. Let go. “Be a witness”. The energy is intelligent and will move on its own. “Horse knows where to go”. Let it. Anyways Buy this book. It’s right and authentic and probably beats out all peers. Personally I can’t wait to try out that heating cooling system autonomic system control the book talks about! Thank you Ms. Desai & your father! Safe journey ahead to us all! ** only side note- from my experience, the 64 point awareness around body script is doing an important function- moving awareness is decongesting the energies trapped and clearing up the pathways. I believe it’s not essential - but just better. In MY view and experience, in the right relaxed, “witness” state the intelligent energy will just enter somewhere in the body and start decongesting on its own. But the script is good for the monkey mind like when I started thinking oh I have to do this, I have to do that - but not essential to the real practice itself.

Excellent Book about Tranforming Power of Yoga Nidra
The first time I experienced Yoga Nidra was at a workshop that Kamini Desai lead a couple of years ago. It was transforming and I knew I wanted to learn more and to experience the depth of what Yoga NIdra has to offer. I have continued to attend presentations and workshop by Kamini because she is genuine, giving, smart, and an amazing teacher. So when her book came out, I ordered it immediately, anxious to be able to read more about the healing meditative state that takes one to a higher awareness and level of being. If you are interested in knowing about Yoga Nidra and in practicing it yourself--this is the only book you need. It provides an in-depth explanation of the philosophy of Yoga Nidra as well as its practical application, and its benefits. I highly recommend it! Kathy Brandt

Extremely Insightful
A script for Yoga Nidra practice comes at the last chapter of the book. However, the context leading up to the script is empowering itself. Without even putting the script into practice yet, I've already transformed my thinking and understanding that has led to more clarity of my being. A lot of the concepts within the book were already known to me, but the visions I received while reading this book solidified these ideas.

Thank you, Dr. Desai
Dr. Desai’s passion for her life’s purpose and work shines through from start to finish. As I read the book, I took copious notes and did a 100 days of Yoga Nidra Practice using her app. I am on #70. She has provided answers to questions I have had for over 30 years on my spiritual journey. And she has caused others to pop up! I am very grateful to her for the time, energy, and courage it took to write both this book and her first one, and I plan to sign up for training in 2022.

Fantastic book, an absolute essential for any Yoga Nidra teacher or student! It’s easy to read, packed full of research findings and explains the process and theory brilliantly. Best YN book I’ve read and I dip in and dip out to refresh and every time remember how great this book is! It’s a book I’ll always keep at arms reach and will hugely benefit me as a YN teacher.
