Versa 4 sleep tracking better than Apple Watch
Long-time Fitbit user from the early days. The Versa 4 has worked well for me, particularly regarding sleep tracking. My newer Apple Watch is wildly inaccurate for sleep stages and is getting worse each update. I tested my Versa 4 against a medical sleep study and it was within a few percentage points, where the Apple Watch was off by a significant enough amount to be considered unusable for sleep tracking per the sleep docs. The Versa 4 does not have all the fancy shmancy bells and whistles of the Apple Watch, but what it does it does well. Plus a 5-7 day battery is nice. Too bad Google will not be making any more Fitbit smartwatches. The Fitbit Air is a very nice tracker, but not having the notifications to me makes the Air a nice device, but not what I need.

A lifesaver! In the entire Fitbit line, this is my favorite and I never want to be without!
I absolutely love my Fitbit Versa 4 and would not want to be without it. I have been wearing a Fitbit for at least the last 15 years. I appreciate that it keeps track of my steps and reminds me to walk at least once an hour. However, recently, it might’ve turned into a lifesaver for me. I woke up to an alert, that I was in atrial fibrillation during the night. I would have never known otherwise. Also, my heart was racing for about 3 1/2 days, I knew I had to take it extremely easy until my heart rate comes down.. Google Health urged me to seek medical attention. I immediately went to urgent care and they referred me to see my cardiologist as soon as possible. I did that and they found there is a problem. It is yet to be resolved, but I am on top of things, only because I have a Fitbit. So I recently bought a new one because I do not want to be without and my current one had a little bit of a crack in the case and yet, it was still functioning fine. I wear it to sleep, to swim, and shower. Never had a problem. Battery lasts for about a week. Be aware, never plug it in directly to an outlet, it should charge by attaching it to the USB port on your computer. No complaints.. . I’ve seen others with much more expensive watches, but this does it for me. Oh, I also love the fact that Amazon has so many sellers who have the interchangeable, watch bands, for much less the cost than the original Fitbit band. Back to the Versa 4, I love the large face, my boyfriend’s watch look! Very smart looking.

Does exactly what it says it does
Believe it or not, I switched from an Apple Watch to this watch. I got tired of constantly having to charge that thing just for it to track my sleep. This Fitbit can do everything that my Apple Watch can do and the battery lasts 4-6 days. So far the watch performs flawlessly. It tracks my sleep, my runs, gives my text and email notifications, and has a huge variety of watch faces. If I ever muster up the courage to run a marathon, this watch will easily last the whole time. Apple Watch…nope!

Good Fitness Tracker / Longevity is just short pf 3 years
Bought 12Jul23. Great fitness tracker, I've worn it every day for nearly 3 years. I sweated on it. it got rained on. it got scratched. I wore it around my ankle, upper arm, and my wrist. Got the best reading from my ankle wear. I went through five bands. Today, 18May26, there was a bright flash on the screen, and it went gaaput! It is DOA. I plan to replace it, and the new FitBit Air is a contender; I haven't decided yet. I wish the device were like a classic watch that collected the health details. Anyhow, it served me well. I wish it lasted longer.

Worked a little, then it didn't............
This is a warning to anyone who is considering purchasing this Fitbit model now - November 2024. DON'T DO IT! I bought this in April of 2023. When I got it, it seemed to be working fine. However, as the months have gone on - and as Google is slowly eliminating Fitbit altogether - my Versa 4 has started to malfunction more and more. Not only that, but the Fitbit app - for $10 per month - is no longer what it was at one point. Google is slowly taking away features of the app - and the watch itself. This company now, owned by Google, is being eliminated - do not waste your money. Go with an Apple Watch - or better yet, Garmin. Since my purchase of this watch, I've noticed a ton of odd incidents with it. First off, the GPS no longer works - so it doesn't track mileage, or speed or any of those types of things on runs, walks, hikes, bike rides, none of them. The sleep tracker is awful - and has always been awful. It can't tell when I'm asleep or awake. The heart rate data is wrong much of the time - showing higher heart rates than reality, especially if it is wet with sweat, pool water or the shower. My heart rate could be 70 - but the Fitbit is showing that it's 150. That is a daily occurrence. When I measure the "stats" with my Strava app on my iPhone, the Fitbit is always off.....sometimes by large amounts. The app features are slowly being changed and diminished as well - so it's not as useful as it was at one point in time. And, bugs - I've noticed lately that my Fitbit won't turn on sometimes. It just stops working. The wrist movement to turn the face of the watch on - that broke in the first month. Hasn't worked since. And as much as I want to like Active Zone Minutes, it's just not accurate. My heart rate will be 70, but my Fitbit will show 140 in the shower or sitting in the pool......so I'll get Active Zone Minutes for those "activities". LOL And one of the most frustrating parts for me is Google's elimination of Strava uploads from their Fitbits. When I bought it, Google allowed automatic uploads to Strava to see your rides, runs, walks, hikes, workouts, etc. Within a month after purchase of my Fitbit, Google eliminated that feature - and you can't even manually upload activities from a file.....it just shows it being empty. Fitbit covered for them by saying something must be wrong - but I found out through Google that they shut that feature down in order to drive Google Pixel sales(which don't work with iPhones, apparently). Today, Fitbit is ridiculous. It should be gone heading into 2025.....after Christmas sales. Do yourself a favor - spend the extra money on an Apple Watch or better, a Garmin. Garmin has every feature you could need or want - and then some. Yes, it cost more - but they work too! And Garmin isn't shutting down - that's why they're making the products they do. More accurate, more features, auto uploads to Strava, plus advanced features for fitness and training. All you could want or need. Even an Apple Watch has WAY more features than a Fitbit. Treat yourself right - and get one of those two instead.

Love my Fitbit!
I love my Fitbit Versa. Second one I have purchased, only bc after 2 years the battery began to weaken and needed to be charged every other day. But I love it.

Make sure you have the latest version of the fitbit app
When I first got this, it would not maintain sync. I updated the firmware on the watch, tried doing a factory reset twice, uninstalled/reinstalled the fitbit app twice, ensured that the app wasn't allowed to go to sleep when in the background... nothing worked. It would work for a few minutes, then when I tried to command Alexa, it would say connection lost. I decided to contact support, and they informed me that my app was outdated. Come to find out, version 4.04 of the bitbit app is too old, and will not work. The latest version, 4.06.7 had not been released for my phone yet, as is typical ridiculous play store behavior. Google... are you listening? When a developer releases an update, you shall IMMEDIATELY make it available to EVERY device! I manually downloaded the apk and installed it, and everything has been working great since. Alexa follows my direct orders immediately, phone calls come through, texts come through, and I can sync with ease. Overall, I suppose this is an improvement over the Versa 2. Screen is a little bigger, but the notification vibrations don't seem to be as forceful, even when set to strong. This uses google wallet instead of google pay as the Versa 2 did, so my AmEx will not work for contactless payment. Phone call feature is nice, seems to work OK. I can hear them, they can hear me. You can only answer calls, you can't make them. The $50 brand x watch I ordered to replace this one before I got the sync figured out was able to do that. It could also control my camera and music player, neither of which is possible on the Versa 4. Google maps is nice if you walk in unfamiliar areas. I'll probably never need it, but it's nice. Battery life seems to be improved over the Versa 2, but mine was 2 years old so I'm sure the battery had gradually decreased it's charge capacity. I used it for several days, and he battery was still at 55%. Skin temperature sensor will one day be nice when it can sync with a smart thermostat and automatically adjust the temperature as needed. But for now, it's just a novelty and has no purpose. Yes, I know my skin is hot. I woke up in a puddle of sweat. Yup, I'm freezing, so my skin is cold. o2 saturation is nice if you have any relevant health problems. If you want to take full advantage of the watch, get the free "Overview" clock face by Chris Blyth. It gives you current and average heart rate, battery percentage, fully customizable date format, allows for a larger clock that shows seconds, and you can have weather, and 6 other health stats displayed on the main screen, all at once. I have steps, distance, calories burned, active zone minutes, floors, and BMI/BMR. It all fits, and is easy to read. Vast improvement over the default face, which shows no useful information. I had th is face on my versa 2, and loved it. So glad it's available for the 4. Bottom line, it's a good watch. There are cheaper brand x ones out there, but none of them have NFC payment, and not all of them have Alexa. And, you get what you pay for. fit & finish feels cheap, the screens get washed out in the sun, finicky alexa integration and so on. Best to pony up and get a refined product. Be sure to update your fitbit app. Their customer support said the latest version should be released within a week, but I circumvented the beurocracy and downloaded it manually. Why wait?

Finally, a watch I'll wear every day
I am not the kind of person that wanted a wristwatch, let alone a smart watch. I don't need that level of connectivity, and I have the unfortunate tendency to destroy nicer watches because of clumsiness and absent-mindedness. But, I do enjoy working out. I love having data when I want to see it. And, importantly, I work in a profession where I would benefit from having a wrist watch to check the time. It's with that mindset that I finally caved and purchased the Fitbit Charge a few years ago. I liked it, but it crashed a bunch of times and eventually refused to reboot. So, I started looking for alternatives. I found the Versa but resisted, as I really don't want or need most smart watch features. Then Black Friday sales came along and I took the plunge. I am glad I did. The watch is durable, easy to use, fits well, and does all of the things I want it to do. I mostly use it to track steps, heartrate, workouts, check the weather, and set timers at work. It does not have a catchy or flashy look, which I am more than fine with. My biggest concerns are whether or not the screen can take a hit (it does) and if I'll fry the darn thing when I inevitably forget I'm wearing it while showering or swimming (it's waterproof). I don't use a lot of the features on this thing. I tried syncing with my Google Wallet, but I find it way easier to just use my phone or wallet -- two things I am very reluctant to travel without. My phone is on silent most days, so I guess it's nice to get alerts when I've missed a call, but I really don't pay much attention to it. I've never bothered with the advanced features for health monitoring, though I guess for a person experiencing health difficulties or someone wildly focused on wellness would find the features useful. The Fitbit app is a nice bonus, and the premium features include some solid workouts and tools for holding yourself accountable to fitness goals. I've dabbled with these when really focused on personal goals, and seen the usual mixed results of someone who will only somewhat commit themselves to diet and workout goals. Still, nice to have. In a world where most smart watches are double the price for a slew of features I don't want or need, this is an excellent product.
