If you've purchased a camping propane water heater but don't feel like lugging around a 5 gallon tank, a 1lb portable propane tank will give you enough time for 3-4 quick showers. Also, after a natural disaster and stores no longer have propane to refill 5gal. tanks (because everyone's done switched to propane generators), you can buy 1lb tanks instead and use this adapter. This is what I used it for after a hurricane took out power for a week. <1lb will run a propane generator for a couple of hours. Or you can use it for it's "intended" purpose too I guess.

This works great in a pinch when you need it . I also used it on a weed burner to keep from lugging a 22lb tank around the garden !

Quality brass fitting. Ease to install. Has no gas cutoff valve so be sure your gas is off at the appliance end when not in use. Handy for when you run out of propane in the big bottle, or just use the small bottles all the time!

I don't give 5 stars reviews for an inanimate object that does what it is supposed to do. Used for first time last night. It works as intended. I read a variety of reviews and the negative ones seem to have a common theme that propane leaks out of the cylinder when this is attached. So the little cylider has a valve that opens when the male end of this is connected to it. An open valve means that gas can flow freely and fast, seems pretty obvious to me. Fast means the liquid propane is becoming a gas and this will cause the freezing. You have to attach this to a valved (like the knobs that turn on a stove) line first then when the tank is attached you can control gas. If you use a little common sense, verify the seals are tight, it is not dangerous and you don't need gloves, you might need a wrench to get to bottle off as it is underpressure and there is no release other than to break the seal. Oh yeah unscrew the bottle from the adapter first, then the adapter from the appliance (stove, lamp, etc.) This with a couple 1# bottles is perfect for limited cooking or a emergency backup.

I got this for a caveman table top grill that I use on my balcony but only had the hookup for a large tank. I’ve used it once so far and it works as intended. The adapter is just a simple piece of machined brass with a couple of rubber seals with no sort of shutoff system or valve. Because of this you always need to have the adapter attached to the hose of the device before attaching the tank and always remove the tank before detaching the adapter from the hose. If you simply screw the adapter on to a propane cylinder the adapter will vent all of the propane out into the atmosphere and could cause some nasty frostbite burns on your hands or pose a major fire hazard.

I purchased this adapter because I have a bunch of the small green Coleman gas bottles that I wanted to use up. This adapter works great and fits the Coleman bottle and my gas grill connector perfectly. NOTE!! Make sure to connect the adapter to your grill hose 1st! There isn't any on/off valve or safety that prevents the propane from releasing if you connect to the Coleman bottle 1st.

I have a Harbor Freight weed torch that connects to a 20lb bottle via left hand POL connector. This allows me to attach a 1lb bottle to it so its easier to carry around. It drains the bottle quickly, but I use another adapter to refill the 1lb bottle from a 20lb bottle. So its like a giant refillable lighter.
