I’m use to the old one. The old ones are like the acne pads without liquid cut to shape. Will see how these work. It has a fine mesh, will see how fine it blocks. I work in a 50 year old building. I use them to block something in the air that irritates my throat. Unfortunately the dog likes to chew them… the old ones with the pads blocked really well to were you can smell the sun slightly burning wood after you take them out wearing them for 8 hours. ( smells like a forest fire a couple miles away like faint wood ambers in the air )

I've never been sure how effective they are, but I know I've had spells of vertigo when I didn't use them (inner ear blockage) and never have when I use them, which is nearly 24/7. If they're true HEPA filters, it would stand to reason they'd filter viruses. So I wear a mask on top of these when I go into a public facility. I'm not a scientist, but I try logically to use every tool at my disposal to lessen chances of infection. The downside is that their listing on Amazon is not as user-friendly as it was a few years ago, as to assuring correct selections.

The product that I received was not the one on the advertisement it was for long nostrils instead of round nostrils so they did not fit I am returning them
