LOVE it, bought another and thinking about a few more
First: in April 2018 we went off-grid. I am an air conditioning girl. I love it, require it, especially at night - thought I couldn't survive without it - and I have insomnia. We went off-grid 4/2018 and it was the wettest summer in years - hot and humid, just awful - and I sleep upstairs. We run a generator during the day, but not at night - power off. I somehow survived and didn't kill anyone that first year but swore never again. The following summer (2019) I ordered this fan. I LOVE it - changed my life for the better. Not as good as A/C but it has saved me every warm night for three years now. And I ordered another one 2 years ago. It's amazing what a fan can do. And you do acclimate, which I swore would never happen to me. I legit thought I would lose my mind and kill people without a/c at night in summer. This fan moves a lot of air for its size. You can understand how it could be a jobsite fan for outdoors. You can run it very low or full speed which really moves some air, but if it's on battery power it won't last long on high. I didn't time it yet. They take the DeWalt power tool batteries which are rechargeable and meant to last on tools that take a lot more power than moving air, so for a fan these batteries last well. On low, the smaller battery will last more than one night and by one night I mean at least 11 hours. The larger batteries are much better, charge in less than an hour and last for a couple nights depending on the speed you use. Your experience may vary. These fans move quite a bit of air, and quite quietly - on high it's much louder but not as bad as a box fan. I like the white noise and can't see anyone complaining about the sound but some will. On low it's very quiet. You can use an extension/power cord with them to move quite a lot of air anywhere you are that has outlets, so even camping if you have a site with power. They have hooks to hang them upside down. The fan tilts quite a bit. It's rugged and easy to use. They aren't very large, but very portable and move a lot of air for their size. You can feel air moving from at least 15' away very well. I wish you could clean them more easily since we use them all year long: cordless and and plugged in, to move air in our home. We use them to move heat to other part of our home from our wood stove in the winter. I also take them outside, using the battery when it's hot or to keep bugs away. Set them on the ground and tilted at you or hang from an umbrella. The only bad thing I can say is they aren't easy to clean unless we missed that bit. Otherwise we have two and want at least one more. If they would come out with an oscillating fan in the same size I'd buy two immediately.

This thing blows!
Ok, the title was a really bad pun, but this Dewalt fan really is a great product. How great of a product? I bought and for several of our family members for Christmas. At first glance, you may think this is just a shop/Jobsite fan... but in reality, it is way more practical. Here is how we use it... - Perfect for taking to the ball field on a hot summer day. - To use in a golf cart on the golf course - To set next to your chair poolside. - To use on your deck when you are away from the outlet - Use at the park or picnic Basically, you can take this thing *anywhere* where it would be nice to have a fan to help circulate air. Notes - - The battery life is related to the battery size... however, the fan really doesn't draw much power. A 3aH battery lasted all day at a softball tourney. - It actually pushes quite a bit of air but the fan *isn't* an air conditioner, so temper your expectations. - One consideration... the fan is pretty small so it has a limited reach and angle for the people who feel it. - Very quiet - Seems to be well built... I have not seen any issue with the build quality - lightweight and very portable. Final Verdict - a great, rechargeable, and high-quality fan that can be taken anywhere! We love it!

Great Product From DeWALT
I have purchased 2 of these fans for construction work and for the beach. I am genuinely impressed with the portability, battery life, and performance of this product. During the hot and humid days with no wind these fans are a life saver with how much air it can push. They are just strong enough to keep mosquitoes from landing on you while in front of the fan on full blast. In addition they are light and compact and include a hook accessory so that you can hook them on a tent or an over hang which I was a huge fan of. I would recommend and buy more of these fans as a gift as they are efficient in making a hot and muggy environment into a more bearable one.

Awsome fan which is helpful for many different situations
I bought the first one to help when working in the in the sun of last years brutal NC summer. My wife took possession after that since she overheats easily and ended up buying another for me. I've been using them while remodeling. The battery life is long. The Dewalt 5AH 20v battery will last a whole day and so does the knock-off 5v batteries. They are running at this moment blowing against walls I mudded in a closet and in the outside corner of the closet door. They work very well. The fan head tilts, they are light and mobile and push out quite a bit of air. The price here is the lowest I've seen. I'm planning on using them for more renovation work, portable cooling and as backup cooling if/when the power is out. They probably would work good for camping also.

Great fan! Worth the years of Waiting!
Love this fan so far. Will update as I use it more. The fan pivots back more than 90° as you may see from my picture. I was concerned the bigger flexvolt battery wouldn’t fit in it but it does with ease. I’m currently conducting a run till dead test to see how long it will run at high-speed with Dewalt’s strongest battery the flex volt 9.0 AH battery. Seems pretty well-made, however, I’m going to hang on to the box to carry it in just to protect it. I hope the DeWALT comes out with a carrying case for this. The hooks pull out from the base allowing you to hang the fan on the job site, which is a nice touch. As many have already posted you can plug it in but not while you have a battery in the battery socket. To use AC will need an extension cord with a female plug on one end just as the DeWALT power pack inverter uses. The description on Amazon says it includes a battery....well it does not. You can use any of the DewALT 20 V or 20/60 flex volt batteries. I paid $85 but it just dropped to $79.... so what are you waiting for? Well Its run for 3 hours and the LEDs on the battery still show a full charge! Now at over 16 hours of run time with battery now down to one led still going strong .... Ok it ran over 17 hours on one charge on high with DeWALTs best battery!!

Simple and PORTABLE
This is a very well made fan, (as are most DeWalt products). It is very portable, durable and can be used in most any non-wet situation. I have moved to almost all battery powered tools and equipment and am glad to be away from extension cords. (Although this fan has a plug for extension cords as well if needed). There are two reasons I rated this fan a 4 star rather than 5. 1. It is pretty expensive for what is essentially a simple fan. (However the Amazon price was cheaper - Lowe's for instance wanted north of $100 for it). It also comes without a battery, and batteries are expensive. Unless you find a package deal somewhere, you have to buy that separately, which leads me to... 2. It takes one of the larger batteries to run it for several hours. I am using a 3ah battery and that will get me 5 or 6 hours at high speed. If you try to use one of the 1.5ah batteries that typically come with a drill for instance, the fan will kill that off in only a couple hours. With these two cautions, I recommend this product.

One is not enough...
After almost 3 years of using this fan everywhere, i can tell you that it doesn’t matter whether you are washing a boat, working somewhere without electricity, or just need a little cooling off this fan is a must have. I have used it for my dogs and to dry clothes as well. I don’t know what it is about hot summer days in the south, but it seems like there is never a breeze when you need one. This fan, as small and portable as it is, provides that little breeze that makes the difference in sweltering and tolerable. Typically, once your spouse/partner/significant other learns about the fan, they begin to grab it if they have to be outside for work or play...for you tolerable just became intolerable again. And it’s back off to the Amazon app to get another fan...do yourself a favor and just buy two the first time. Besides convenience which is probably their #1 appeal, battery life has got to be the number two best thing. 6ah battery will run this fan forever and a 4ah battery will get through most of a day. If you are convenient to a plug, pull the black flap up behind where the battery would go and you plug the fan in with a standard extension chord (NEMA 5). This fan can be used free standing, mounted on a tri-pod, the provided hanging hooks allow it to be hung up over a rod or rafter, or it can be mounted to a wall. DEWALT claims that the fan delivers 500 cfm. Finally, the biggest problem with fans is the blades always get dirty. This fan is easy to clean with a hose. I typically hang it upside down (you can protect the base if you want) and spray water through the ban blades (air from a compressor will work too). If the blades are really dirty, I have squirted som household window cleaner on the blades just to help with the dirt. I have also had the fan out when it started to rain, and there is some water resistance built it in to the fan. Lastly, the fan is pretty quiet. I have dropped this fan, had stuff fall on it and it just keeps going. If you are already using Dewalt 20 volt or Flexvolt tools, this fan is an absolute must have. Honestly, if you are here because you need a portable fan to plug in, this fan is a great choice because those features that make it job site tough and light will benefit you as well. I cannot recommend a fan more highly - well unless you live in Siberia...

battery lasts long
Got this fan as a go anywhere fan and its been working out great. Its good for personal use in close areas but don't expect it to cool a large area as it doesn't move enough air. It's plenty strong within a 5'-10' but beyond that you can't really feel it. The variable speed is a great feature, so much better then a stepped speed controller. At the lowest setting its super quiet but at high it does make a bunch of noise. Just last night I plugged in a 5ah battery and ran it for about 3 hours on medium speed and at the end I checked and it was still at 3 bars, so the battery does last much longer then I expected it would.

Fantastic piece of kit worth the money
Great bit of kit. We use it when camping and it quiet and powerful. The battery lasted all night and you only need to have it on half speed to get a decent draft. Very cool

Excellent buy, no regrets, super versatile, well priced
Great little fan. This is really one of the best items I've purchased from DeWalt. I'll be honest, my driver, drill, and workbench table saw are more useful, but this item is probably next in there. Let me jump in. Operation - Its absurdly quiet (on lower settings). I'm not joking, you could sleep with this in your bedroom on low setting. On high setting, it's as powerful as one would expect for a fan of this size. You nearly don't hear the motor at all, just the fan blades. Battery vs 110V power - I feel it's more powerful on line voltage, but I never had issues running on battery. The convenience is useful, but you can't expect to get 40h out of a battery even the 9AH unless it's on super low setting. But for that one time you're in some corner dying of heat, or want to try to speed up drying for a few hours, out of range of 110v the battery option is a real life saver. Size - this is very portable and small. So it's not a hurricane generator. If you had a water leak and drenched your entire basement carpet, get something else. But for this size and weight, and practicality, it's hard to beat. Again, for the size, it moves as much air as you could expect. Features - the most useful feature is the snapping positioning of the fan direction. The hook is useful, but I have yet to use it. I suspect it's more for very specific applications. There is a giant tripod mount for the mother of all tripods I guess, the screw hole is HUGE not your typical camera tripod screw. Versatile - I've used this fan for all kinds of things. I MacGrubered a cardboard box with this fan and a filter inside to clear up air in the garage while woodworking in the winter. I've built an insert to hang in the garage door side window (not installing it for the pic, it's -25C). I use it on super low setting to dry the kid's gloves in the winter. Etc etc. In summary, I'd give this a 9.5/10. (10/10 is reserved for drop-everything-youre-doing-and-buy-this-now.) An older handyman I know saw it, and immediately had me order him one. Pro tip - It sometimes goes on sale for 99$. Even at 120$ you might feel it's steep for a fan, and normally I might agree, but all I can say is I have zero buyer's remorse because of how versatile it is.

Absolute Kaufempfehlung meinerseits. Good job DeWalt :-)

It’s Okay
It does the job but it’s weaker then other known brands. Personally I think it’s over priced for what it can do.
