Anyone who has ever needed a long wood clamp, knows this story. A 3 foot long clamp will cost around 40 bucks and will be made with a metal bar that bends when clamped. Finding a longer clamp is hard enough, but the expense just won't be worth it. So, I bought a ten foot length of black pipe for $24, with threads on each end. Used a cheap angle grinder to cut it in half, then ten seconds on a bench grinder rounded the sharp edges, with a rat-tail file to quickly finish the inside edges. The threaded ends screw right into the pipe clamp and the opposing piece slides on without hassle. Literally five minutes after I opened the box, I had two, 5-foot wood clamps, ready to go. And they are much more solid than anything you can buy on a store shelf. My only question is the metal coils that come in the kit. What are they for? Thanks, PONY!

What can be said .... they're Pony brand ! Casting = medium to good Guage = Just a bit lighter than "Ones of the past" ..... Still..... Would continue to purchase as needed ...

Very high quality product. They run very smooth, unlike some cheaper-manufactured clamps that feel like there is sand in the mechanism. The finish (paint) is very well done as well. Nice pipe threading too (it did fit perfect). Looks very professional.

Item as described. Heavy duty clamps. I bought 3/4" black pipe and had to go to a machine shop to get one end of each 5' pipe threaded at a cost of $15 per pipe. Well worth the extra time and money to make the clamps workable. They should work well for making some plank doors for my shed.
