Hubby built a watering trough for my tiny dinosaurs aka chickens. Worked really well!

My water bowls get used multiple multiple times a day with a herd of huskies. This is a terrific replacement. I've used it for years and will continue to do so. No complaints. Rated 5 for ease of use, replacement and reliability.

Chickens love it

Have an automatic dog water dish that used a rubber disk that the float would press on to cover the fill orifice. The rubber eventually degraded and stopped fully sealing over the hole. The water dish would constantly over-fill and flow over the side. Was not able to locate a replacement rubber seal. This valve fit into the dish. Was a whole lot cheaper than replacing the whole dish and came as a two pack. Very happy with purchase. Have other float valves on the property. Glad to know I've got a reliable, low cost replacement.

The actual valves in these seem to be fairly short lived.

I used this valve in the reservoir for a garden watering system. It works perfectly. The float turns water off completely with only slight submersion, which allows easy adjustment of water level. One nice aspect is that the water level can be kept below the hole in which the valve is mounted, so the mount cannot leak. Another thing that I like is that, since the entire thing is plastic, it will never corrode. Attaching the valve to the input hose was a bit tricky for me. The thread is 1/2", and seems to be designed for some sort of compression fitting, but I could not find one that fit. I ended up threading on a 1/2" female pipe thread fitting which works perfectly. To make the NPT fitting seal on the straight thread, I used multiple wraps of yellow gas teflon tape, tapering from thinner to thicker as I wrapped. When the NPT fitting was threaded on, it encountered thicker teflon the further it was threaded, which seems to have cured the lack of taper on the valve threads. Other reviews have mentioned leaking due to debris in the water. True enough, but the same would be the case with virtually any float valve. As long as your water is free of debris, the valve will function perfectly. If your water has debris, you will need a filter no matter what valve you install.

Was just what we needed to get our barn water flowing for sheep . In case anyone else needs to know it works in our Freedom Fountain livestock waterer.
