Well Made and Looks Great!
I really like the Bodum Chambord French Press models and have all sizes from the 12 through the 34 ounce. I needed a 51 ounce for weekend parties and just couldn't bring myself to pay the 50 bucks for the Bodum, so I bought this based on all the good reviews. Honestly, it's every bit the quality of the other ones I have! You're typically looking for a few key things - substantial glass, how fine the mesh is, and the look. Everything else is basic function. The quality is every bit as good as my other presses and it does look really nice! They say it's the upgraded model, but I don't know what that means. It's a good weight and the coffee it produces is as expected as long as you know how to use a French press. And just an FYI, if you're using a French press and you don't grind your own coffee, you're probably not getting what you should! Pre-ground coffee is neither the right size grind nor the freshness you need for a French press. Anyway, I highly recommend this product and would buy it again!

Nearly 4 years later and I'm still using this French Press and it still looks gorgeous.
I bought this back in 2022 to match my copper kitchen accents and I loved it so much that I bought another one a few months later just in case this ever broke. I still have that second French Press unopened in its box in a closet because this has never cracked or broken. French presses I've had in the past have been a little more fragile with the glass parts, and the holders on many were plastic. This is a nice durable glass beaker, and the copper holder still looks gorgeous! A few tips: A) I only use a silicone long-handled spoon to stir. Wood would work as well, but don't use metal in there. You probably could if you're very careful, but why ever take that chance of weakening anything over time? I have long silicone spatulas (the long skinny kind made for getting the last of the mayo, etc.) that I use as well if I can't find my spoon. B) I almost never put this in the dishwasher, and if I do (every great once in a while) I remove it from the metal casing (slides right out with gentle, careful wiggling). When I hand-wash it, I leave it in the metal casing and have never had a problem. The metal mesh filters can be unscrewed easily and go right in that dishwasher, no problem. They're still in tip top shape after all these years of being dishwasher washed once a week. C) I usually just let it cool off, and then I simply rinse it out and take the filters off and rinse those too. Leave them on a towel to dry a bit and that's it. I do handwash it with soap about once a week, but usually it's just rinsing. Don't ever rinse it when it's hot! That's not good for glass. As far as the water I use, it's either from an electric kettle or a stove kettle, fresh off the boil. I've never had an issue using it that way. I pour the water in, give it a gentle stir with my silicone spoon and leave it about 4 minutes while I do whatever. Sometimes I get distracted and 10 minutes goes by - it's still nice and hot and ready to go! Anyhoo, that's about it. Sadly, these days, I'm only drinking decaf coffee, but a good water-processed decaf bean freshly ground makes an amazing tasting cup if you use a French press. Plus, I always make fresh French-pressed real coffee for Holidays and guests. Nobody's missing out on my watch! ;) This press is absolutely gorgeous and gets comments all the time, and it was inexpensive for such great quality. About 12 years ago I bought a really expensive one and it cracked, and here this copper one was not expensive at all and it's still looking fantastic after nearly 4 years of daily use. Nothing compares to a freshly brewed cup of French pressed coffee - if you've never tried it before the flavor and texture will blow your socks off. Cheers!

Perfect cup of coffee
Very happy with this French press. I’ve had it for about a month or so and it brews me a perfect cup of coffee every time. Was using a pour-over before and it always took too long and was not consistent. Very glad I bought this one to replace it.

Well-built; Looks Rugged; Does What It's Designed To Do
The item arrived today. I will be using it later today or tomorrow. I wanted to wash it prior to using it. It is extremely difficult to remove the carafe from the holder. Like PITA difficult. I had to use hand soap to "grease" the carafe so that I could remove it from the holder. It seems that once it's removed, it gets easier to remove it. The markings on the side of the carafe get scraped off each time you remove the carafe from the holder. I placed markings (in permanent magic marker) on the holder to mark the 6oz and 12oz levels -- I can estimate 80zs for my coffee. The packaging was very good -- styrofoam cushioning and paper wrapping kept the item in good shape. It seems well built. As for how well it operates when making coffee (in my case, brewing cacao), I'll update this review when I've accomplished that. UPDATE: I used it to brew one cup of cacao. I used the instructions from the producer of the cacao, and not the instructions that came with the French press. Yes, it produces (finally) a brew that tastes the way it's should taste (IMHO). A simple rinse with warm water, and we're good to go for the next brew. I'll do a complete breakdown and cleaning every third or fourth brew. The instructions for removal of the carafe from the holder are on the side of the box. There's a screw that holds the metal frame to the handle. Loosen the screw, and the carafe should easily come out. The instructions that are in the "owner's manual" simply say to push the carafe up from the bottom -- easily done, except that there's no way to wedge your hand/fingers in such a way to be able to push the carafe up from the bottom unless, of course, you loosen the screw that holds the metal frame to the handle. I initially gave this three stars. I'm raising my rating to five stars. I'm satisfied that it does what it's designed to do, and at a fair price.

Best French Coffee Press
My electric percolator stopped working after 10 years. My sister told me about this French Press and it's everything that she said it would be. It was reasonably priced, aesthetically pleasing, easy to clean and no coffee grounds in my cup! Best choice ever!
