This is the most epic game of all time. It takes some learning and practice but it's an awesome game and super fun once everyone understands the detailed rules. We have played this game with every type of person and it's always a hit. Be warned... It's RUTHLESS! As are pirates. And that's what makes it so fun! We love that you can swap some rules to make it a two player game (my husband and I are competitive and love to play games) but can be played with a big group too. We've nearly flipped tables and joke we've almost divorced over this game LOL we've even written the creator of the game to challenge each other on the rules and got a quick response with clarification. But it's a blast and it gets better every time you play. If you're looking for a challenging, strategic game that will keep you on the edge of your seat in a competitive adrenaline rush the whole time... This is it!!!

This game is more fun with a minimum of four players. More players turn it into a bluffing game where you don't know who's your enemy and who is an ally. I'm usually terrible at bluffing games because what you do say matters but this game is more about what you don't say. I was british in my first game but deliberately played like I was french to earn the opposing team's trust. My idea was to keep the british ahead just enough to win. The friench got too far ahead so it was obvious the British were going to lose. A french player was directed by a card to switch their loyalty card with another player of their choice. Since they were sure I was french, they switched with me which made me win the game alongside the french. I love the idea of the rubber mat instead of a cardboard playing board. Dispite the game going up to nine players, it doesn't take up a lot of room so it's a good travel game. I think we played with eight players my first game. The small size of the board does make it harder for everyone to reach the board in larger groups but it makes the game a good travel game. It would be fitting to play it on a boat.

Played this over Christmas with family and bought it as soon as we got home. I love board games and this was a nice addition to our rather large collection. I teach High School and we play almost every day during our homeroom class. It is so much fun and great that you can play up to 9 players. I always have enough and often have to turn some away. At least one of my students has even purchased the game to play at home. Just purchased Deadwood which is another game by the same publisher. Can't wait to play it with my students!!!

I've played with 2 players so far, hope to play with the full 9 players soon. Quality cards/board. Great art work. Fun game concept and easy to learn game play. The instructions were almost TOO thorough which is refreshing because in today's political climate, direct, clear explanations are rare.

Tortuga is engrossing, unique, and overall great to play with friends--but there are several issues The game is advertised as 2-9 players, but be aware that the less players, the more boring the game is. We found the game needed at least 5 players to be fun. In addition, the rules are confusing and do not address a variety of unique situations in the game. We had to make up "house rules" and remove some overcomplicated factors (such as the voting cards) to have a lot of fun. This game is better for an older audience, due to all the rules. We enjoyed Tortuga but it could have been executed better. Pros: Great theme, unique play, replayability Cons: confusing rules, needs a lot of players, overcomplicated

This was a family gift that was a blast to play. The game rules seem long, but make sense as you run through the game. The mechanics are unique and make the game different every time you play. (This will NOT be a one time game that gets shelfed and forgotten!) My 9 year old played it fine with some coaching, but younger might have more fun on a team with an adult.

I bought it for its 2 player range up to group game. It's more of a group game though still fun with w players. We introduced it to our friends and they loved it so much they ordered their own copy. Would recommend 👍🏼

So I wasn't sure about what it mean for the thickness. I assumed that it meant the thickness of the game it self. It is about the size of a book. But it is really easy to keep compact. And if it is still too big for you you can just take everything out of the book and keep that in a plastic bag. I personally love the idea that it is kept in a book and I love having it on my bookshelf, and pulling it out when it is time to play. The whole board mat rolls up really nicely. It was a little difficult to learn and explain to other people so make sure that you go over the rules and stuff thoroughly before you play it with other people.

This wasn't difficult to grasp, and my groups are often unexpectedly large so I appreciated that it was an easy to grasp board game that could actually fit a larger than standard group without just being another card game Also, it's aesthetic and compact! The board itself is more like a little mousepad, but it does the job and is just fun.

Great game that isn't overly complex and supports a number of players. My only regret is that I don't get to play it as much as I'd like!

El artículo llegó en perfecto estado y antes de lo previsto. El juego es de muy buena calidad y bonito arte, aún no lo juego, pero la dinámica es interesante y permite hasta 9 jugadores.
