excellent camera, excellent condition
arrived at the earliest expected day and in perfect condition! My daughter is thrilled!! Much better than the school camera that got stolen from her locker. It's a shame we'll have to give it to the school when the semester ends...

Defective camera maybe?
I bought this after my old school pentax broke on me. I cannot believe i spent as much on this as I did. It's nothing worthwhile. The cheap plastic body just doesn't feel as good as the pentax. Also, the rewind on this is ridiculously hard... if you let go, it goes spinning back the other way and you have to re-rewind all that film again. My biggest problem with this kit however is the lens. I could not got this stupid lens to focus for me AT ALL. I was using it for a class where I was required to use 50mm and the POS would focus on one side of the lens, but not the other!!! It made for a cool effect actually... but, unfortunately, 99% of the time it blurred what actually needed to be in focus. I ended up shooting that whole semester with a tiny aperture and was limited to landscapes and shooting in high light situations. The lens really wouldn't let me get the photos I wanted... I say, get on craigslist, and buy an old film camera with a good lens. UPDATE!! a week ago my light meter stopped working, obviously just a battery issue... well, now I can NOT change the batteries!!!!! the battery screw thing is plastic and cracked in half!!! after trying for an hour to unscrew it so I could change the batteries, I gave up. I will continue to use this with NO light meter until I can afford to buy another film camera. I will then proceed to burn this one or throw it out of a moving car at 70mph. Something to make me feel better for how much this camera has made basic film photography a pain in the a.

Good entry level 35mm SLR
This is a good solid camera to learn how to shoot with. It does exactly what is advertised...which is that is is manual in every way. I bought this particular camera at a local shop because I was leery of buying a Pentax K100 SE (which is what I really wanted) though an online auction. As I need the camera for class, I like having a manufactures warranty in case the camera does break. I have run one roll of film through the camera, and I am more than pleased with the results. The double exposure button is a next extra as well. My only concern is in the construction of the camera itself. Older 35mm SLRs have held up for so long because they were constructed from durable materials' mainly metal. This camera has lots of plastic on it. It does make the camera lighter and easier to hold, a definite plus, but I wonder how it will hold up under years of use. Bottom line: a great student camera, especially for the price (I paid almost as much for a used Nikon that I sold in order to get the Promatser).

Excellent!!!
After a ridiculously long drawn-out process with another vendor (Fawas Alharji) where i was basically screwed over, I found these guys who sold me an excellent Promaster 2500pk Super SLR Cam that came in exactly the day they said it would. If you're shopping for a top quality camera with STUPENDOUS service go to these guys.

Great Camera
Very user friendly, I've used this camera in the past which is why I decided to buy one for myself. Perfect for film students.

Poor light meter
I bought this used and the light meter stopped working within a month. It was for my granddaughter in a high school photography class. I guess that's what you get from buying something from a private party instead of a legitimate business.

Promaster Epic manual slr camera for beginers
well i was more than happy with this camera, tho i was kinda bummed out that that huge lens on the picture wasnt included "Pentax Lens" well back to the review, it is the best and easiest manual for beginner such as myself, this camera is 100% manual in every aspect. Quiet remarkably lightweight, it arrived quiet quickly and the instructions are really good and quiet detailed.
