Probably not. It's very thin plastic (ours actually came with a hole in it so we can't use it)

Can I use something like paint or makeup to make it green?

I do not recommend this product. It is very cheaply made. I don't think makeup or paint would work.

How do you get it off?

You pinch at the crown and pull. Or peel it back. Not difficult to remove.
