Easy to install and works great
No instructions are included, but if you look at the images in the listing and the photos kindly supplied by reviewers, it's very straightforward. Here's what I did: 1. Find a drill bit slightly thicker than the cable. 2. Drill a hole about 1/4" above where the latch hits the gate post when it is fully opened. 3. Measure the location of the hole you drilled with a ruler or tape measure, so you know how high it is and how far from the corner of the post. 4. Now drill a hole on the back side of the gate post, same height and same distance from the corner of the post.5. Look at the small metal cup in the kit, the hole in the middle extrudes out the back. Find a drill bit the same size as that extrusion; you want the extrusion to fit very snugly into the hole you will drill. 6. With this bigger bit, re-drill the small hole you drilled above the gate latch. If the back of the cup doesn't quite fit, drill again and wiggle the drill bit a little to widen the hole. (You don't want it too big or water will get in.) 7. Now that you have a bigger hole, you have some hope of threading the cable through both holes so that the loop is on the back of the post and the straight end reaches the tip of the latch. 8. Put the cup and spring over the cable, and press the cup into the larger hole you drilled so that it seats. Seat the wide end of the spring into the cup.9. Now put the brass bit through the hole at the tip of the latch, and hold it carefully in place while you thread the cable through the hole in the bit. Pull the cable through until there's only a little slack on the loop end - you want between 1/4" and 1" of straight cable between the post and the loop (your preference how much). 10. When you like the amount of slack, use the tiny allen wrench to tighten the screw sticking out of the end of the brass bit so that it tightens onto the cable. 11. If you are confident in your work, cut off the excess cable about 1/2" from the brass bit (you don't want to poke yourself with it when you open the gate from the inside). If you aren't yet sure the slack is correct, just leave the excess cable hanging for now and try out your gate latch for a few days until you are sure you like it. (I tucked my excess cable into a hole that already existed on the gate post from a previous latch.)Hope my pictures are helpful, I appreciated the ones from other reviewers.

Works great!
It actually came with 2! Works great and great price, can't beat. A must-have to all homeowners who wants a well working gate as itll not only open, but has a spring where it'll close every single time. If the brass won't fit in your latch hole, you have to use a drill but to grind it down for 2 seconds, it'll fit snuggled as all latches have different sizes. Cable is also wrapped in plastic so it's not gonna rust, a plus!

Works great.
I suggest drilling a shallow hole for the spring plate to sit inside so it isn’t moving around and looks better. Love it.

Perfect fit in every way
Extremely simple design, so reliable: CHECK !.Nicely put together kit with clear instructions (here on listing): CHECK !Fits my bog-standard gate latch (including the brass piece): CHECK !Spring length was a little short for my pre-drilled post, but easily stretched by 1.5": CHECK!Good Value: Heck yes! 101% recommendedTip: The pull-wire is plastic coated and springy itself. Rather than cut off the excess length I looped it back behind the fence post and above. Now the pull-wire AND the spring BOTH apply downward force on the latch to close it.

Ensuress a latched gate every time
This spring latch cable is the perfect solution to easily access your gate from the outside without having to reach over trying to find the latch. Many times your gate won’t complete latching, or maybe your smart dog has figured out how to jump up and nudge the latch causing the gate to open. The spring on this latch is the answer to those problems. It ensures a good latch that keeps your gate shut.

Work great
I built a gate to close off my new deck to the outside dogs. I installed a self locking gate latch on the inside, and needed something to open the latch for anyone wanting access to the porc stairs. This works perfectly and resets like it is supposed to do.

Doesn't fit most latches
The pins are too large for standard latches. You have to drill the latch. Other than that, good product. But what a pain. I bought a single (not the 4 pack) and it was fine (pin was smaller)

For my gate, this was perfect
The parts included changed my front gate beyond my expectations. I liked that all the little intricate components, once assembled properly, transformed my latch for just a few bucks, and beautifully.
