The Life and Revelations of Anne Catherine Emmerich, Vol. 1

I've gone through this set of four volumes at least 4 times. I always wish it were as true as the Bible, but of course it does not have that authority because too many people have had their hands on it to be sure of it. It's still the only place where you can read how Mary was dressed for her wedding. It's also probably the most intense rendition of the Passion of Christ that's available (book 4). Even the movie took much from this book. A real favorite of mine.

Excellent reading! If you want to expand your spirituality and delve into the depths of the Almighty, this book will give you ample information and Holy Spirit inspired ideas on how to get there.

about the life of Christ. She had the stigmata, meaning she was like St. Francis.They both had personal communion with Christ. I particularly enjoyed the story of Christ's birth. Very moving.

Well researched and presented.

This book described the life of mystic Anne Catherine Emmerich in such rich detail that you may picture all the events in this woman's life. She was bound to Jesus in a mystical way and the author conveys all the major events in her life so that a thorough study of her life and spirituality is set forth. This book helped me understand some elements of suffering that I could not comprehend before. The author (long dead) should be highly commended for the vivid detail he created in this biography so as to put the reader in the very room as Sister Emmerich.

Just a few pages in, I came to this passage: "Cain's children gradually became colored. Ham's children were also browner than Shem. The nobler races were always of a lighter color." I was thoroughly enjoying the book until I saw that. Now I have doubts about everything she wrote.
