Allergens Test - Home Air Check

This test was easy to use and the results were turned around quickly, however it didn't point me to a solution. I bought it because I was having breathing problems in my living room. The results claimed low mold, but high VOCs and formaldehyde. When I called my contractor regarding new cabinet doors, he suspected mold, and found some under existing cabinets. He took pictures, and removing the mold seems to have resolved some of the problem. We tried removing the cabinet doors and that was no help. There may still be high VOCs and formaldehyde, but without discovering where they are coming from, removing it, and solving the problem, it is difficult to confirm. According to my research, there are a lot of items in a home that can off-gas VOCs and formaldehyde, so I can't disparage the air test. I continue to look for a source of VOCs and formaldehyde.

The tests kit is complete and easy to utilize. Basically there are one or more glass tubes in the package depending on which series of tests you chose. Each has an optimal sampling time clearly documented in the package. You stick the tube into the sampling device and flip it on, then wait the prescribed time period. Then remove the sample, write down the sample times and close the box back up. Comes with prepaid shipping via UPS.The only buyer beware aspect is each kit is technically on loan. So if you buy the item and don't return it within a few weeks or at all, they will charge you an additional fee for the lost hardware. In my case I've run 4 of these tests and each kit has come with a 4 to 6 week period before it needed to be returned. The return date of each kit is indicated on a sticker applied to the outside of the shipping box for the kit.

Report that is furnished after completing the air sample is not user friendly. Also, there are really no corrective measures for most of the air issues other than opening your windows and airing out your house. They say to move volatile chemicals out of your house and don't keep cleaners inside where they can be picked up in the recirculating air from your heater/ac, but do you need to build a shed to have extra Clorox or Windex along with your gasoline for your weedeater? Most of the material is not very helpful.

We have been dealing with extreme VOCs after a remodel gone bad since April 2015. We were remodeling our Media room and wanted to use the most current technology for sound isolating the floor and walls. This meant putting in a specialized rubber mat on top of the subfloor to isolate the bass and reduce it from reverberating throughout our 2nd floor. On top of that was 2 sheets of 3/4" plywood, non-OSB, with Green Glue between the sheets of plywood, then new carpet pad and carpet. But, I didn't realize until later that my contractor had mixed some different types of glues(liquid nails) in with the Green Glue and I suspect this was the chemical reaction that was causing our health issues. Within a month, we started noticing an very pungent odor, along with eye irritation, as well as runny noses and other respiratory issues, which did not stay contained to this room and ended up affecting all rooms in our home. We hired an environmental company to test the house for mold($1500) and did not test for VOCs, but that would have been another $2000 or more. They said if it was VOCs it should dissipate after 3-6 months, so we decided to wait it out by keeping windows open. But, after a year we continued to have on and off issues. I come across this testing method two weeks ago and ran the test. Wish I had come across this easy method of testing sooner! Even with few current issues, the results of our current state was bad, between Elevated and Severe. I cannot imagine what we were living in back 9 months ago. I ended up tearing out my media floor and will now leave it open for a month or so and perform another Air Check before putting any part of the floor back in. Having a healthy house for my family is now priority! I never realized how bad remodeling can be if a contractor is not careful. This test is so inexpensive compared to using an professional environmental company, which wants to overcharge 10 fold.

Test 1, the lab did not email the result. Coupon for retest discount not redeemable on Amazon. (Test 2 +3 repackaged as "used" )Test 2, Expired vials. Test 3 Expired vials. Old vials can throw results. A little more attention to detail (beyond selling product) is needed. Even at the repacked price, this is not an el cheapo test. Did not meet expectations for equipment/results.

I did like the product. It did not have the return label but the company fixed that problem when I called them. I wish it was a tad more detailed, but overall it was good. It tell you a lot of what products or items could be causing the issues you are having, I just wish there was a way to narrow it down. Besides that at least it does tell you where your problems are and once you know that part you can dig deeper into trying to resolve that particular issue. It was very easy to use and setup as well. I wish it cost a little less I would like to redo the test after changing something just to see where it is.

Easy to use product, easy to follow directions. Good return time. Didn't give me answers. Add said it tested for 400-500 , Dependant on add, this is the reason I spent 200.00. didn't get all the factor results

Not worth the cost for a one time report. You’re better off spending the money buying a air quality monitoring device like Awair that can be used continuously.
