Washer Water Inlet Valve GENUINE (OEM PART) for Hot Water by Beaquicy - Replacement for L-G Ken-more Washing Machine - Replaces AP4441935, PS3527427, EAP3527427 It's funny how companies can use words like "GENUINE OEM PART" in their advertising and now get away with it under the "Buyer Beware" principle. I should have known better, but in my haste, I picked this up after doing a search for "OEM" and the part I was looking for. The price of this was middle of the road and the same seller (Beaquicy) and manufacturer (YZK Supplier) sold two different versions of this LG Hot Water Inlet Valve. The other one matches the white color of the LG OEM part and was $5 cheaper! Seeing that, I suspected that the $10 valve was the sellers own brand and this one is the GENUINE OEM PART. Well, it is a "GENUINE OEM PART", it's just that the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) they're referring to is YZK Supplier and NOT LG (Life's Good), which is the brand of my Washer. Here's the kicker, the official LG store on Amazon also shows the black inlet valve for the replacement part and they retail for $19 (I thought I was saving a few bucks because on the markup by purchasing from Beaquicy.) This is not to say that third party parts are not good quality. In fact, many 3rd party vendors, especially with small electronic equipment, will sell parts that are guaranteed to meet, and in many cases, exceed the specifications of the OEM. The same is true with many household items like small appliances and plumbing. The key is to know and understand what the OEM specifications are. These 3rd party vendors will also often state that they meet or exceed OEM specifications. This water inlet valve by Beaquicy doesn't advertise to meet or exceed OEM specifications as that would take away from using "GENUINE OEM PART" in their listing. But I can tell you that after replacing the part in my washer, it fit and works perfectly fine. There is one noticeable difference though and that is with the filters. Sorry folks, I forgot to take photos as I was without my washer for almost a week and was in a rush to get it going again. Anyways, how the filter differs is that the LG OEM part has a double filter in the water inlet valve. There is mesh filter that is part of the valve assembly itself, and a secondary, removeable, mesh filter. In the listings pictures, this is that small orange tab that you can make out. The filter on this 3rd party replacement part only has ONE filter (the removeable one), and it's completely plastic. Furthermore, it's blue and not orange so the picture is a bit misleading as well. Installation-wise, replacement was easy and all you really need is a Philips screwdriver to remove the cover, and a pair of channel locks. After unplugging everything and disconnecting the water inlet hose, the water inlet valve is only held up by two screws. From a performance perspective, I did not notice any difference in water pressure or water flow. It works as designed and no longer leaks. Overall, I'm not terrible upset. I've used non-OEM parts before and never really had any issues with them beyond normal wear and tear, and I don't suspect I will have any issues with this part. But I did slip this time around in my haste with making this purchase and I'm normally not that sloppy (shhh, don't tell my Dad...) In all honesty, if the difference was only going to be $4, I probably would have paid it to get an original LG OEM part. No real value for the money here, the $10 part does offer more value compared to the LG OEM part (a 47% savings), but a $19 part in general doesn't break the bank. There are not many replacement parts that will cost $50 or more, but this is where you can save significantly by using 3rd Party parts. My washer and dryer set is 21 years old and one I've inherited from my parents. It's been with me my entire life and it's a workhorse! Sure, parts have been replaced over the years, but they're easy repairs that were expected due to wear and tear. Like everything, if you take care of it and maintain, it will last you a lifetime.
