Good little Iron. Good Temperature Control
I purchased this 70w Weller soldering iron station after my 10-year-old [at least] 40-watt Weller iron quit... (after I inadvertently left it on over night!). This little iron heats very quickly, and holds a very even temperature once it's hot. I'm not sure that the digital temperature readout is particularly accurate (although there is a "temperature offset" feature in the setup menu, to calibrate it/make it more accurate, but I haven't messed with that yet). I have it set to display "750ยฐF", but I don't think it's really that hot... In any case, it really doesn't matter [to me], because I just set it to a high enough value to thoroughly & quickly melt my 60/40 (or 63/37) electronics solder, but not so hot as to oxidize the tip... regardless of the "reading". I'm using it primarily for electronics work (I repair/rebuild radio amplifiers), and it works very well for that, for the last 10 days or so. The handle is comfortable to grip and easy to use, and the slim shape of the heating element makes it nice getting into tight spots. The "Sleep" feature is nice too, so that the unit basically shuts-down (goes to low heat) after several minutes, and you can set the delay time in the menu. Also, the display reads in either F or C (selectable in the menu). The tips for this model are readily available (I already had a bag of 'aftermarket' replacements), but since the temperature is pretty well regulated, the tip should last a long time (my old iron was unregulated and would get quite hot, which burned-up the tips fairly quickly). So far I'm happy with this unit. It has worked perfectly right out of the box... no issues whatsoever. I guess time will tell, though... At this point, I'd recommend it.

Use often
Heats up fast, great value for the money, high quality, suitable for fine projects such as circuit boards. Wish the cable was a little longer otherwise great design.

This is a terrible product with poor design and materials.
Weller used to be high quality. This is the worst piece of crap I've purchased in a long time. I've spent thousands of hours using soldering irons. I've always purchased Weller because they produced high quality and reliable equipment. This the last Weller product I will ever buy. The base is really light and unless you attache weights or magnets to it, it will be sliding all over the place. The cord is stiff which limits moving the iron around and drags the base all over the place. After a few hours of soldering, the tip oxidized and cleaning either didn't work or removed a very thin coating. In any case, the tip would no longer wet. I attempted to replace the tip, but it was frozen and when I applied enough torque to free the tip, it broke off threads. The parts I would need to repair the station don't seem to be available. I'm not too upset about that since if I did repair it, I would just have a repaired piece of crap. It is poorly made out of poor materials. Weller should be ashamed.

The spring and cord need to be redesigned.
The coiled spring that holds the iron grips the iron way too tightly. Ya gotta give the iron a twist just to get it in or out of the holder. The way it is designed, horizontal, the iron is prone to falling out and burning something. I bent mine up a lot, possibly 15 degrees (but not as much as I would like - afraid it might break), and now it holds the iron a bit better. The other major complaint is the cord from the controller to the iron. It is too short and too rigid. It feels like the insulation will eventually fatigue and crack. Why didn't they make it out of silicone or some other flexible material?

Works as it should, cable can be an issue.
Yeah I have used it a few times and it seems to work quite well. I used to have a Weller 25 years ago and that had some weight to it (I guess it had a huge transformer in it) this one is very light. I agree with some other comments about the soldering irons cable is very stiff and you have to be careful not to burn it. I bought this over the cheaper Chinese (although I'm sure it's made in China) hoping Weller would have better quality control standards.

The iron Holder CANNOT Work as Designed! Please Read Before Buying
I have always used Weller soldering irons at work and home, and as such have always had a healthy degree of trust in their products. This product (WLSKD7012A) has a very serious flaw. The soldering iron holder is ridiculous. The iron itself will not stay in the coiled holder at all. I would go so far as to say that the design is outright dangerous. I've never encountered this before in ANY soldering iron product. The iron readily falls out of the holder (in fact their is no way it can stay in the holder) and can be the cause of fire and/or bodily harm. This design should not be on the market. I'm very disappointed with the company.
