Looking Back: A Book of Memories

Lois Lowry is my favorite author of all time
Lois Lowry is my favorite author of all time. The Giver has always been an important book to me. So when I found out about this book I was ecstatic to read it. I read it in one sitting. It is much different than what you would usually expect from a memoir or biography. There is no order to the events in this book. It honestly feels like I just sat in Lois Lowry's living room, while she flips through a photo album of her life and tells stories. It was beautiful to read a memoir about her life in this way.

Powerful book for young and old alike. Must read ...
Powerful book for young and old alike. Must read for all fans of Lowry. Pages 182-183 worth the price alone and hard to read without a tear in your eye at the absolute beauty of the truth she has learned and shares.

Wonderful Memoir
I got the digital copy & there were a lot of typos in that form. My friends had hard copies and didn't have those problems. I read this for my book club and I really enjoyed how Lois Lowry tells short stories about her life.

Looking Back
This is a great book that gets in the mind of Lois Lowry. Very humorous and touching stories about what she took from her own life to make into the great books she writes.

Moving Memoir
Lois Lowry was lucky that people in her family were interested in photography and she has some amazing photographs of family life at the beginning of the 20th Century. This trend continued in her family and Lowry herself is a gifted photographer. She wrote this moving, brilliant memoir in 1998 and released an updated and expanded version in 2016. Reading it, one can sense the love of family, the depth of personal loss and her quiet acceptance of the ebb and flow of life.
