Could i use without bolting to ground?

No it needs to be bolted to the ground to prevent it moving in windy conditions,

do you have to bolt it to tye ground? we have paved patio on a rental property

Hi, Yes I bolted mine down onto my block paved drive. It was easy as small rawlbolt type fittings are included. I think you could get away with some screws and plugs if you wanted, but if it is going into an exposed position I would use the bolts. A tip you may find helpful is to make sure the surface you place / fit your bike cover is as level as possible in all directions, like North to South and East to West. Hope this helps you out. All in all a really good piece of equipment, but it will take you half a say to get it erected and secured
