Not plant-based
These bags are not plant-based. Made of low density polyethylene (plastic). I’m bummed. Wish I had researched more thoroughly before I purchased and opened the bag.

Not biodegradable
Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is not biodegradable. I felt very deceived by this company and their product which is just a plastic bag that should be recycled. It feels like a regular plastic bag so I researched them after I bought it unfortunately. I will not be buying again.

Do do you trust thses ro be biodegradable
First the good: The bags offer great size selection. The not so good: I was looking forward to having a better size selection and less expensive option than Bio bags. I especially wanted the larger size, which BioBag doesn't offer. The package comes with a piece of paper stuck inside (I like their minimal packaging), "A little Better Bags", which is a deliberately a vague name that by itself means nothing other than a marketing scheme. They also have an illustrated icon of a leaf to make you believe these are environmentally green. However, unlike the BioBag, there is nothing on these bags or their packaging that indicate these are environmentally better than other plastic bags, or that they are biodegradable or compostable. In no way, anyone should put these bags in their compost bin unless the company is able to obtain certification, and labeling permit indicating that these bags are indeed biodegradable. At this point, I feel like I have been tricked.

NOT COMPOSTABLE!!!
If you saw this item on Compostables.org or other compost friendly sites, please know these are absolutely not compostable. I called the aforementioned site and discussed the product with a rep and they said it looks like a red flag and they would be taking it down from their site (props to them). As stated in other reviews, the item comes with a sticker, not mentioned or shown in product photos, that mentions ASTM D5511 testing. The composting.org rep said that's usually a red flag for items that aren't compostable, as well as both boasting "100% recyclable" and no mention of a brand name (check bpiworld.org for legitimacy). If you notice, the product description does not mention compostability, but Q and A section does, as well as other references on the page.I know we're all just trying to make better choices, but please don't put these into our soil!

Great bags, bad amazon packaging.
I needed convenience of plastic bags for travel, so that these are compostable make me feel better about my footprint. Regarding the big plastic bag from amazon, and big plastic bag holding these compostable bags, I’m very disappointed with the amazon packaging.

Made from LDPE (plastic?)
In terms of functionality the bags are good, but as other reviews have noted, they are allegedly made from plastic derivative LDPE so I don't know how eco friendly that really is. I wish the company had a website so we could fact check this.
