Q: can kids play with them?

It's Lead - A Heavy Metal, and it's extremely TOXIC - I mean like "VERY TOXIC"!!!!!!!! If you are handling lead don't touch food or your face without WASHING your hands. If you cast, only do so in very open areas, and never in a house , garage, or in an area were children are playing. I only cast outside on nice days with a mild breeze to help remove vapors. I also use a fan to keep vapors away from me. The idea is to minimize your exposure to lead. Wash your hands, don't touch food or drinks, avoid touching your face, and change your clothes as soon as you get home from the range or shooting. I even change my clothes after handling or casting with lead. When storing, keep lead in heavy duty air tight plastic bags, and store away from children - in a safe if you can!!!!!!!. SAFETY FIRST, and above all DON'T LET CHILDERN EVER HANDLE LEAD AT ALL - LIKE IN NEVER/EVER!!

Q: Is it soft enough to make split shot?

Yes you can make split shot. But remember many states now ban the use of lead and split shot that is not coated or painted.

Great lead for casting muzzleloader bullets!

This lead is soft and cut just in the right size pieces to fit in a Lee Production Pot. Produces very nice muzzleloading bullets.

Clean lead

A bit overpriced for my application but it's pure. Soft. Deformation at 45 yards was over 30% with 40 grains of 4F Swiss launching a 240 grain Kaido okiah conical with flat top .44 with a 2-3" group @ 45 yards.Shipped promptly.Delivered promptly.Lead was exactly asdescribed the piecesare about 7/8 X 1 inch.
