I have the pink Girls watch and there is a tiny silver indented button on the side. You should plug the watch cable into your computer/laptop and use a pen to click the indented button, You will hear a sound that it has connected with your computer. Pull up a Windows Explorer tree and find the watch extension (maybe drive E or F) and open up the My Music files until you find the one with the existing music in it. You can then drag and drop or copy and paste MP3 music files into the folder with the existing music. I had to figure this out on my own. I was on the phone with Amazon technical experts for over an hour and they couldn't figure it out. I was able to convert my granddaughter's favorite Taylor Swift music from MPEG to MP3 and added it and she is a happy girl now with her big girl watch.

Do you have to have a computer to charge the watch

No need for a computer for charging. However, the watch comes with a 3ft charging cable. It does not have a plug for that cable, so you’ll need some form of charging device or plug adapter for charging. A computer or a cheap phone charging block with a USB A port can be purchased for less than a few dollars. No need to splurge for anything fancy as far as adapters go. The cable provided is a USB Type A cable with a device-specific other end that magnetically connects to the under side of the watch to charge. It will most likely need to be charged for at least 5 min before it turns on the first use.

what kind of memory card is needed?

If I’m not mistaken the memory card is included. I bought 2 of these for my grandchildren, and they used them right out of the box. They both love their watches. We’ve only recently replaced one of the watch bands.
