Not sure of the exact weight it holds, but I haven't had any problems with it full of frozen food.

When empty, will this bag stand up on its own without support?

It does stand up on its own while empty though a little easier after its been used a few times and not collapsed. The top does not stay open on its own though. I got mine to use while doing shops for other people...instacart, shipt, etc. Its great!

Does it have bottom insert to help keep the bag more structured?

There is no bottom insert included in these bags, but the bag is constructed in a way where the bottom is tight and sturdy enough that I have never found myself missing that feature at all. I have read where users of similar bags cut cardboard to scale the dimensions of the bottom of their bags, and that seems to work. Personally, I do not think that is required with the Baleine brand bags. They consistently hold up and maintain their shape whether they are full of items or completely empty.

Are the handles long enough to carry on your shoulder? The description claims handles are long enough for shoulder carrying.

I could carry them on my shoulder but I fill them up with cold food so they’re too heavy for me. They are very sturdy, I’m pleased with them
