Good quality Hole Saw 100mm Cutter for Soft Metal Wood PVC Board and Plastic
Good quality flintronic Bi Metal Hole Saw 100mm Hole Saw Cutter for Soft Metal Wood PVC Board and Plastic Genuinely impressed with how cleanly this cuts through different materials. It’s been used mainly for making larger circular cutouts in wood and plastic, and it goes through without too much effort when used at the right speed. The teeth feel sharp and well made, and it doesn’t wander around too much once it gets started. It’s important to take your time with it and not rush, but when used properly it gives a fairly neat, accurate cut. It also handles light metal and PVC without much struggle, as long as you let the tool do the work rather than forcing it. Heat build up can happen if you push too hard, so steady pressure works best. The spring on the drill is a handy touch and along with the larger holes in the top of the hole saw, it makes it much easier to remove the plug after drilling, which saves a bit of time and effort during use. Overall it’s a solid bit of kit that does exactly what it’s meant to do and feels good quality for general DIY use.

Good value and good performance
I bought this hole saw to cut some holes into two pieces of 38mm thick pine. I didn’t fancy doing this with a hand drill, so as I am fortunate to own an old pillar drill, I opted to use that. I marked my wood where I wanted my holes, clamped the centre drill bit down onto this position, then used a g-clamp to clamp the wood to the drill base. I also used several bits of old wood to block it against the back pillar, to stop it turning under torque. I soon learned that the trick here is to take things slow, offering-up the saw to the hole for a second or two, then backing off to allow things to cool down. I also found it useful to brush the teeth regularly, to stop compacted sawdust building-up. I cut just over halfway through the wood until the centre drill bit came through the underside. I then turned the wood over and (using the centre drilled hole as a guide) cut from the opposite side. This gave a nice clean finish and avoided any breakout or splintering. I prized-out the wooden donut from the saw by sticking a screwdriver in the access holes on either side and levering it out. It seems well-built, and although the weld looks a little untidy, the cut holes are fine. I removed the supplied centre drill bit’s spring, as it wasn’t strong enough to push-out the wooden donut and it actually started to hinder the cutting process on such a thick piece of wood. I dare say it might work better on thinner, lighter material. By the end of the six hole cuts, the red paint was starting to come away from the saw, and as this feels to be a plastic-type material, I feel this wouldn’t be helping with the smooth rotation of the saw. However, in the end I got a set of nice round holes, so it would probably be unfair to dock a point for this. So overall, good value and good performance.

Great for cable holes
Fantastic, very easy to use on a variety of materials to create circular holes. I used it to cut through wooden slates and drywall to post cables through for my media wall - worked a treat! Just a warning, as expected it gets very hot after use.
