EarFun Air S vs. Other earbuds... First!
Update again on 9/7/22. I've used these exclusively, every single day since release. I did replace the eartips as mentioned in the review below. The connectivity has never dropped, not once. This is of most importance to me and what separates these from the rest. They have survived one hard drop no problem and have been in the rain and sweat. They sound great and their features are basically unmatched by other buds in this price point. I'm upgrading to five stars, from 4. The only downside of these, at all, is the lower power ANC and eartips. But it's there and it does work well enough, and eartips are easily replaced. Justification for the upgrade to a full 5 is that no product in the world is **perfect**, but these are darn close. Darn close is good enough for me. Don't look elsewhere, just buy these. ----- original---- Small uodate about a week later. The ANC is still kinda a bummer. The fit though -- I figured it out. The original tips are a joke, they are just terrible. They have a smooth grainy texture that is just super smooth, like frosted glass. Replaced eartips with good ones. Literally twice as good now, the ANC had such poor isolation with the original tips! Finally, connectivity. Zero drops. Perfect connection. I'm keeping these! These are the best buds with this feature set on the market. I would increase to 4.75 stars if I could. Original: Alright, so here's my review of the brand new (released 8/15) EarFun Air S. Why did I buy them? The feature set. I wanted earbuds that have APTX, ANC, and are the bar style, like Apple Earbuds, not round like Samsung or Google buds. Why do I want this style? No idea. I just like how they look. And yes, I bought these with my own dollars. Not a sponsored review like on Youtube where anything those reviewers touch is made of solid gold and you should BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT now now now! haha. I've used these for about five hours. I have used five other earbuds listed below, so this comparison will be between these. 1. JLAB Go Air Pop 2. Soundpeats Air3 Pro 3. Soundcore Liberty Air 2 4. Klipsch T5 ii 5. Tronsmart... something whatever. I won't be talking about these as they just don't measure up. Out of the above five, the best in my opinion are: Soundpeats Air3 pro. Second are JLAb go air pop due to price. The ones I like the most are the Liberty Air 2. Why? Because for some reason, ALL OF THE ABOVE cut audio a lot, except the Liberty Air 2. There are problems with the liberty air 2 though (hiss) and they dont have ANC, but the connection is superb, with no drops or audio cuts. With the JLABs, I might as well just not listen to anything if my phone is in my pocket, because I won't understand it anyways. That said... Earfun Air S in comparison, keep reading. These Earfuns have all the same features (or more) as many of those above such as APTX, but they also have ANC. In fact, spec for spec, they are identical to the Soundpeats Air3 Pro, except the Air3 Pro has slightly shorter battery life, and maybe the soundpeats have a bit faster charging and slightly higher waterproofing. There are two other differences, which I'll note below in the ANC section and the Codec section. Audio: Earfun sound fine, but not perfectly sharp. I think this is due to some software configurations, possibly. I'm not quite sure -- see codecs below. That said, for normal people: Clean mids, slightly muddy highs, very crisp bass. Overall the audio is very satisfactory. I have sensitive hearing and the hiss from the liberty air 2 drove me nuts. There IS SOME HISS on the Earfun, but it is *very* hard to notice. I'm in a completely silent room, and it is hard to discern if there is any background hiss. It does not bother me on these. Note, the Air3 pro had the same hiss as these, very little! The JLAB have no discernable hiss. The Klipsch have a hiss, but better than Liberty, worse than the Earfun and Soundpeats. Again, the hiss with these is *barely* discernable, not a concern. As to the quality of the sound, I think the Soundpeats Air3 Pro win here, with these in second place. Liberty is last, barely beat by the klipsch, and jlab beating those two. Codecs: Yes, these have APTX. HOWEVER... there is something weird here. By default, they use AAC. How do I know this? Android, Developer Options. You can google how to open this particular settings menu. The Codec selected was AAC. APTX was available... why didnt it default to APTX? Also, the only available sample rate is the lowest, of 44.1. Other APTX earbuds support 48 kHz, and a higher bitrate as well. Android also specifies the "type of APTX" with a prompt when the connection is first established. It'll literally have a popup on your phone saying "Connected with APTX-HD" or "Connected with APTX-Adaptive". These do not have this prompt. I think this is because it is defaulted to select AAC instead of APTX, and you have to force ATPX in developer options. Not a fan of this little bug. The lowest settings of bitrate and sample rate, in my case, cause me to rate the Air3 Pro higher in this category. Fit: These fit kind of odd. I need to use the largest tips included to fit in my ears. I've never used such large tips! But with that, they fit fine. I think I might use other eartips I have, maybe ones that are a bit more rigid? I'm not completely sure. The Liberty's fit better, but this isn't a dealbreaker. Again, these fit just fine. Case: I thought I'd hate it after seeing reviews on youtube, as its a clamshell style. But its really solid. It opens and has a mechanism to keep it open, and shuts tightly. I like the case. Battery life: So far, four hours in, no problems, at 30% so better than advertised. I expect to get what they advertise, but if I don't I'll update this review. Pass Through Audio: As with all buds, its only ok. Its decent pass through mode but not exactly pleasant to use. I dont think I'll use it much. No earbuds I've used have a good passthrough mode. Some sound is not replicated by the buds, such as higher pitch sounds (like people's voices...). Because I don't care about passthrough mode, I am not using this as part of my rating of the product. ANC Mode. I am disappointed with the ANC. The Air3 Pro ANC is... INCREDIBLE. I can't hear any lower end sound with those. With the Earfun, I can still hear leaves in the wind, dog walking around, people talking in the distance, and the air conditioner working. Don't get me wrong, it works. But it is wrecked by the Air3 Pro. Game Mode. What? Who cares about game mode. Its Bluetooth. Its going to have some latency unless you have a proprietary codec. Because of this, I have not and wont test it. Also, cmon, cell phone games are terrible. That said, I notice no delay with podcasts or videos. Not using this as part of my rating of the product, who cares about game mode. Uhg. Build quality of the buds: REALLY solid. I thought they were metal (they arent). Very solidly built. Connection quality: To me, this is the biggest issue that most earbuds have yet to overcome. Again, every single one from that list except the Liberty Air 2 skip audio, some very badly. The Air 3 Pro skips audio when they are in my pocket, which is why I am not exclusively using those. So far today, the Earfun Air S have NOT skipped at all. Not once. If they continue to not skip, then my choice for the best earbuds on the market is between these and the liberty air 2 (which hiss and dont have ANC)... so I think I will have to go with these. If they skip at all, I will update this review. Hint: I'm disappointed with the Soundpeats Air3 Pro, and if these dont skip audio I will be quite happy with them. Finally, call quality. This is one of those spots that every single earbud manufacturer just doesnt tell the truth. The best call quality on the market is AirPod Pros only with iPhones, followed by google / samsung / Sony buds, and finally followed by everyone else. Absolutely none get anywhere close to an actual headset with a mic, or a wired set of earbuds with a mic. Voice quality is always dulled, and ambient sound can always be heard. That said -- not joking, I was very surprised by the quality of my friend's voice when hewas using these to call me from his phone. Clear, understandable, and his voice was actually "sharp" rather than dull like with most earbuds. I'd lean to say these are the best I've used for call quality from the earbud perspective, outside the premium market. Overall, these are a good product with a solid warranty, great customer service based on Earfun's online reputation (I have not reached out to them), I only wish the ANC was stronger! Great job Earfun! ... whew this is the longest review ever.

Multipoint Bluetooth, decent sound quality and battery life; all at a great price!
-- Original Review -- Sep 29th 2022 -- Initial review and summary. The EarFun Air S is a very good earbud for the price and features it offers. There is not a single major con I can think of. This has it all for the price which won't break the bank! Here are my criteria for picking any Bluetooth earbuds and my rating on these factors. 1) Multipoint Bluetooth connection - 5 star I can't stress this feature enough and I won't buy any other earbuds without this feature. Makes it so easy to use with 2 devices together, while working i.e. Zoom calls and your personal cell phone at the same time without having to unpair and pair constantly. Also works great while you're in the airplane watching/working on your tablet/laptop plus the cellphone. 2) Style and built - 4 star These are stem style in-ear earbuds - check. I have had bad experience with the "dot" type and prefer these. May come down to individual preference. It's decently built but won't get the premium quality some expensive ones may offer. 3) Sound / Call Quality - 4 star Its surprisingly true to a neutral sound stage with slightly overdone bass, but you can easily adjust it in the app. Again not as good as Apple Airpods or Soundcore Life P3 but they don't offer Multipoint. Call quality however is very good and comparable to any high end earbuds. These are also fairly loud so you won't have to max the volume on your device if you like it loud. 4) Fit and comfort - 4 star I was hesitant reading the earlier reviews about this, but I don't find the ear tips slippery. It has stay put for the most part, just like any other similar style earbuds. From the photos the older ones came with a black and red ear tip and the new ones are all black. Perhaps they changed it, I don't know. I went for a 4 mile jog and it didn't pop out or anything unless I was wiping sweat off my face. It also is fairly comfortable for my ears. YMMV. 5) Noise Cancellation - 3 star Not the best ANC out there, compared to say Apple Airpods or even Soundcore Life P3. What is surprising is that the sound quality remains the same in all modes, viz noise cancellation, ambient, or normal. This is a good thing and typically not something I have observed with other earbuds. 6) Battery and charging - 4 star So far I have only used it for 3 hours continuous and battery seems to be holding up well. I'm fairly certain this will get 5-6 hours of life on a single charge. I will also only buy a earbud that comes with wireless charging case and these offer that (albeit a little big for my liking). Also have fast charge capability which gives 2 hours of usage in just 10 mins of charge, quite handy. 7) Companion App - 4 star The app, while not as great as the Anker Soundcore app, its does offer enough customization, like EQ, changing ANC modes and to tweak touch controls. 8) Touch controls - 4 star It has all the usual controls like up/down volume, play/pause, next/previous track, mode/ANC etc. One this this doesn't offer is in-ear detection to pause and resume the playback when the earbuds are taken out of your ear. 9) Price - 5 star The retail is $70 and I got it for $52 during a promotion. There is NO earbud in the market which offers this many features and this kind of sound quality at this price. Overall it really is 4.5 star. Well done EarFun. -- Updated Review -- Nov 20th 2022 -- I am going to ding the battery life rating a bit. I think this gets around 4 hours with ANC on. That extra 1-2 hours I find make quite a bit of difference, as that's the threshold of getting through a full day (or say a flight) vs. not making it. Maybe I'll try with the ANC off and see if it improves, but that sort of defeats the purpose, at least on an airplane. Still 4 stars.

At long last-people can hear me!
I am an active person and on the road traveling back and forth to work at least 1.5 hours a day. I generally call a family member during that down time. Unfortunately, they struggle to hear me on almost every ear bud or ear piece I have tried. I started only calling them when I was in a very quiet area with the phone to my ear. I decided to find a company who actually had an ear bud that had excellent call quality that wouldn't break me financially. I read more reviews than I can remember, but kept running across this company I never heard of before--I'm an IT geek and love tech that enhances our lives. The call review ratings were consistent everywhere, so I took a chance and ordered the ear buds. Wow--my mother could hear me clearly which was a relief for both of us. I tried it out with my sister while I was checking the company mailbox next to a busy, noisy highway and she thought I was in the office where it's generally very quiet. When I'm in my car and travelling on highways to and from work, the sound of driving is very loud inside the car. I called her again while I was driving home on the highway and she thought I was at a stop light or parked. I also listen to a lot of Audible books when I go to bed. My mind races at night and doesn't slow down. Listening to a book has solved the problem of going to sleep and staying asleep. Every ear bud stops working within a 2-4 hours, or the controls are so sensitive I have to constantly readjust the volume manually or start the book again after the control pauses the narration. ---I used one ear bud the first night and it lasted all night without any annoying issues and it was still in my ear when I woke up. The app is easy to use and the features are just the right amount needed to cover a variety of listeners. Noise Cancelling, Ambient Sound, Normal, Game Mode. Equalizer has Bass Boost, Bass Reducer, Treble Boost and Treble Reducer. You can create an custom Equalizer mode. I haven't played with any of that yet--I've only had these a couple of days. When I make a call or receive a call Noise Cancelling goes into play-hooray!. The Ambient Sound allows me to hear what is going on around me. Again--only had them a couple of days so haven't experienced the different options. Between the both of us, we have tried Bose, Anker, Jabra, Skullcandy, MPOW, and other ear buds. They haven't lived up to the claims of the various advantages their particular model boasts. They are probably alright for people who live for the music, but communication with family who live on the other side of the country is most important to us. Thank you EarFun, I will probably buy a couple more sets to have just in case life happens.

EarFun Air Pro 3 are great, but better customer service
I bought EarFun Air S ($60) in November. They were on sale and recommended by audiophiles for being less expensive, with sound nearly as good as AirPods (second generation) having a slightly more bass centric sound profile while providing noise canceling not available on the AirPods. After 3 months of use, I agreed with that assessment. They have great fit and sound, especially for the price. However, I was rarely able to connect to the Android app (EarFun Audio) and so couldn’t easily use the equalizer. Then, the left earbud died, which I described in my first Amazon review. Having read my first Amazon review, EarFun contacted me to offer an unsolicited refund or a replacement with their EarFun Air Pro 3. I accepted the EarFun Air Pro 3. Again, I agree with the audiophile reviews that indicate these are as good as the Airpod Pro 2. The EarFun bass centric default sound profile can be adjusted with the Android app (EarFun Audio), which connects without problems. The phone call sound was good too. Others didn’t note that I was using earbuds during a call. The EarFun Air Pro 3 are similar to my JBL Live Pro 2 ($100), which seem to have slightly better noise canceling. However, the sound profiles are very similar (when the EarFun bass is lowered). In fact, the EarFun seems to have a more crisp, responsive sound. But I’m not an audiophile, so who knows. Nevertheless, the two are very similar. Overall, I’m very happy with the EarFun Air Pro 3. And, you can’t beat the customer service, who provided the EarFun Air Pro 3, unsolicited, when my EarFun Air S failed. Old review of the EarFun S Similar to Apple earbuds. Tone is more bass centric. The phone app mostly doesn't connect. So equalizer mostly unavailable. See the reviews. After 3 months the left earbud failed. Had to trash them.

Some good features, some big issues. Not worth $60.
These earbuds worked fairly well for me- for about 6 months. Pros: Good sound quality, multidevice connecting is (was) nice. I like having the app to configure the settings and noise cancellation feature. Charging is easy and lasts a while. Microphone is fine. Cons: The buttons are sensitive and placed so that if you readjust the earbuds, you'll probably press the button too. This is fine for music because you can configure the button settings in the app- I set it to turn the volume up or down with one press. If I'm in the gym and my earbud slips, it isn't a big deal to have to alter the volume after. However, when on a call this becomes a HUGE issue because pressing the button HANGS UP the call. I couldn't find a setting to change this in the app. After 5-6 months, the multidevice connection started to fail. I used to be able to connect and switch between my phone and laptop, but now it causes the audio to break up when another device is connected. Around the same time, the bluetooth connection itself started having issues too. At this point I have to disconnect and reconnect it almost every time I'm on a call or listening to my laptop. I have now had the earbuds for seven months and need new ones. For the product the price seemed reasonable, but now that they haven't even lasted a year the price definitely was not worth it.

Very decent quality product backed by a "customer first" company
Having owned previously a set of Earfun Air, I was impressed with its performance and quality. I decided to come back and purchased 2 sets of Earfun Air S. My past experiences with the company behind these products have been nothing but complete satisfaction with their top notch customer service. They are responsive to your issues, very professional and always willing to go the extra mile to make the customer happy. It was truly a rare find in customer service quality nowadays. Very happy with the performance of this set of Earfun Air S. Bluetooth pairing and connecting to your devices are quick. With the multipoint connection, ie being able to connect to more than one device at a time is a game changer. With the old Earfun Air, it can be paired to multiple devices but only connects to one device at a time. And with auto connect, every time I opened the case of the old Earfun Air, I have to go to the previously connected device to disconnect before I can connect to a new device. With the multipoint connection feature of the new Earfun Air S, it will auto connect to the last 2 devices that were previously connected to. This is very convenient and saves lots of time. Sound quality is excellent, and the iPhone app allows you to customize a bit the musical preferences. Battery life is also very good. i use it about 3 to 4 hours every day listening to music or watching movie and after a full charge, I can go on using them for about a week and a half before having to recharge. Charging wirelessly is possible and very convenient also. The new Earfun Air S is a bit different when compared with the old Earfun Air in that if you remove one earbud, the music of video does not stop like the old Earfun Air. Tap controls are as responsive and work just like the old Earfun Air. Overall, I am impressed with the performance and quality of this product. If there is anything I wish it can provide is some external digital indicator to show the battery level of the set. Highly recommended product.

GET THE APP & DON'T USE NOISE CANCELING
My $3000 over-the-ear Sennheiser headphones that I bought at CVS for $40 broke - yet another piece of cheap plastic designed for short-term obsolescence. Desperate for a pair of buds or headphones and without time to get to the Apple store, I picked these up after an independent review site had these #1 in the budget earbud category. This review is as basic and straightforward as EarFun's Air S buds. PROS 1. As noted in other reviews, they pair and connect simply and instantly. Given how much trouble I've had with other earbuds from JLab, JBL, and others, this is saying a lot. 2. I haven't had a chance to read the included instructions, so I haven't quite got a handle on STOP / SKIP / MUTE et al. But I know they work, because I've done all these accidentally at the gym. 3. They solve a problem that other, more expensive, bluetooth earbuds have in spades - volume. I have tried working out at the gym with other B/T earbuds (see above) and gave up, because I could barely hear them over the noise at the gym. These are plenty loud - louder than you'll want to play them if you want to have hearing left in your 70s. 4. For bluetooth earbuds, they're a great price...especially after coupons et al. I paid $40 + tax. CONS 1. The sound is very tinny. Sorry Earfun, but they need work. I like clear, crisp treble sound and hate the muddy sound of over-pumped bass. While these buds are very clear sounding, they are clear to the point of being ... well, tinny. 2. Get the app. It's very, very basic, but you can at least suppress Treble a bit and boost Bass. It's not very noticeable, but it did improve things a bit. (Also, re: another review here, you DON'T have to register to use it. Hit SKIP and go straight to the Equalizer. 3. NOICE CANCELING is barely noticeable. TURN IT OFF. Skip AMBIENT SOUND and choose NORMAL. Surprisingly, this adds a touch more Bass and suppresses the tinniness a tad more. I'm sure there are good b/t earbuds out there that sound great, but I haven't tried them, so I'm just speculating. If I'm going to spend hundreds of dollars, I prefer over-the-ear phones. That said, I think that any company which can create reasonable sound in a tiny little earbud is a wizard. So, if you need something to listen to your workout music to, these will work.

Great budget ANC earbuds!!
I purchased these earbuds and was immediately impressed. When these earbuds arrived, I immediately unboxed them and inside you will find your owners manual, a card with instructions on how to clean your earbuds, a swab, a card on instructions on where to get the EarFun app, a case with the earbuds inside, cable and, extra ear tips. These earbuds are stem style earbuds but are much skinnier than my Soundcore Pro 2 earbuds. The case is the same style as my EarFun Air Pro 2 earbuds but with much thicker plastic which was one of my gripes with my Air Pro 2 was the case and how cheap it felt. After pairing these earbuds and I immediately started listening to music and these earbuds are very bass heavy, you will need to download the EarFun app and tweak the sound if you’re not a bass head. After some adjustments in the app I made them decent but unfortunately the app only has three band EQ settings instead of 9 or 10 band EQ settings to adjust the sound to your needs. The app does do firmware updates but you have to navigate the app to find it, I highly recommend you update the earbuds to the latest version of firmware and the app as well since they have made some improvements with the app on adjusting your controls. The touch controls are a bit finicky even after the update, I found myself having to slow down on tapping on the right earbud to change my tracks or else it would only register two taps and pause my music. Call quality is very clear, everyone I have tried to call on them have told me they hear me loud and clear. ANC is also very strong with a touch of a hissing sound when they are not playing any music but goes away when you play your music. Another surprising thing is these earbuds don’t change the sound, they stay the same on all three ANC modes. Although in ambient sound mode, voices and sounds come in artificial than natural sounding. I also love the QI wireless charging which is a feature on every single earbud product from EarFun. The only thing about these earbuds is they don’t have ear detection so if you take out your earbuds the music won’t stop automatically. These earbuds are also very comfortable, I listened to them for two hours and didn’t experience any type of ear fatigue. Overall it’s a great product and I highly recommend this to anyone in the market for earbuds!!

Surprisingly good sound quality
I bought these for home office use so ANC wasn't a priority to me. The microphone is really clear when I'm sat talking to people at my desk and the connection to my phone and laptop via bluetop is stable and switches between the devices when a call comes in seamlessly. I havent tested it outside yet but im not planning to use then too to talk to people whilst im outside or in the car. The battery life is really good too, 6+ hours in normal mode on one charge. The Earfun app for Android is really easy to use and there's eight customisable touch controls which seem to work pretty well. The charging case and headphones themselves feel pretty solid and seem to be made of pretty nice materials. They also sit comfortably in the ear and feel fairly unobtrusive. You get 4 different size silicone ear buds which is nice. The ANC doesn't seem all that amazing however, but I didn't really buy these for the ANC. What really blew me away was the sound quality. These little buds sound amazing when listening to music. The bass, treble and mids are really punchy and accurate up to 85% volume. Over that it loses control but the sound reproduction is truly quite excellent below 85% volume especially considering the price. I also liked that the equaliser function in the app works well and doesn't ruin the sound when you push the different frequencies around. For the price, you really can't go wrong with these little earbuds but if ANC is a priority for you, then I'd suggest looking elsewhere. For home office use and listening to music, it really does tick all the right boxes and then some.
