Wash after wash still goes strong.

I just pulled my 1999, 35 foot Albin out of the water for a bottom paint and gel coat wax. I thought this time I would do the waxing myself. I started with my normal random orbital waxer and the typical terry applicator and polishing bonnet. HORRIBLE results. The owner of the boatyard came over and gave me one of these wool bonnets and I could not believe what a difference it made. I also used the regular terry bonnet to apply the wax. I had several people ask what I was using and that the gel coat looked like new. I ended up using two for the entire boat. When I found them at about half price on Amazon I purchased two more for the next time. I will never go back to my old style polishing bonnet. No idea what the negative review was about but may have been using too much wax or something with too much compound in it. I would buy these again for any waxing of my boat or car.

Cuts through oxidation on fiberglass gel coat when used with Dewalt slow start variable speed polisher and McGuiar’s 67 Marine/RV compounding polish. I didn’t have to apply much pressure because the pad did all the work. Cut through to the shine and didn’t gum up. It says to hand wash to extend the life of the pad, but a spin through the machine with a load of towels cleaned it up nicely. Don’t dry it in the dryer though. Air dry! There are red indicators built in to the fibers to tell when it’s time to replace but that won’t be for a while.

No doubt these are expensive, but you get what you pay for. 3M Brand can't be beat. I use the yellow version for polishing and the white version for serious oxidation removal. Recommend!

I own a yacht detailimg business in south Florida, we only use 3m wool for compounding gelcoat , is all in the product and pad ! 20 years and if it works don’t fix it !
