Hilda and the Black Hound (Hildafolk)

The Hilda books are awesome (the original graphic novels; have not seen the novelized tie-ins). Unique and enjoyable drawing style, good stories. This goes not just for The Black Hound, but for all six of the originals. The Netflix series has expanded beyond the books, but stayed true to their style, characters and overall feel. If your child enjoys the series, the graphic novels will be a slam-dunk bedtime addition. Would say they're good for at least age 5 and up. My 4-year-old loves them.

I ordered these for my granddaughter’s birthday. They arrived in plenty of time and she loves them. The are perfect books for the 7 to 9 year range.

My kids love this book series! Bought them for Christmas, and my kids were thrilled. Cute, well written, and good illustrations.

Pearson really expands his fictional world here with the introduction of not only the Nisse but also this sidelong dimension that they occupy. He does a great job of telling a complete story but then leaving a number of loose ends unresolved that he can come back to later or just leave to the reader's imagination. My *only* complaint is the explanation of how the messes of all the houses were made. How do you drag things into or out of a hole unless they're sticking to you somehow, or you're actively pushing them out? Aside from that, though, this was perfect with a perfect ending.

I would give this series a 2 because I adore children’s books for their beautiful illustrations and moral meaningfulness, but I am forced to give it a 5 because my 3 year old daughter loves the exploits of Hilda. As a lover of triolls, goblins and other mysterious beings that my child and I often speculate about, I suppose I must give the series credit where it is due.

I like Hilda. She's sweet and kind and adventurous. She also accepts the consequences of her actions, which is pretty uncommon in fictitious (and real) children. And in this book, she does screw some things up. Granted, she's trying to solve a different problem when she creates a new one, but it was oddly delightful to see her acknowledge her mistake and accept the consequences. Anyway, if you're new to Hilda, you can definitely start here. She's a girl with a great imagination living in a world full of magic, and her adventures are wonderful.

Bought for my 4 year old, who enjoys the Netflix series and loves books. She falls asleep "reading" this book. Like the large size so pictures aren't too small. Will have to get the rest of the series now!

My four-year-old adores this book, and so do I. We read it the first time with baited breath, eager to see the resolution play out, but have enjoyed it just as much with repeated readings. It's incredibly detailed and full of little things we only noticed after reading it and peering at the pictures multiple times. This author is super creative. We've purchased another of his books and my kiddo just picked out a third at the library. Good stuff!

En casa nos encanta Hilda, tanto en tele como en cómic. En el noveno arte nos decidimos por su edición inglesa pues era más barata que la española y porque el texto no era muy extenso y los crios lo entienden. Una lástima, pues en España lo edita la maravillosa BFE de la cual intentamos pillar casi todo lo que saca, porque saca joyitas y por ser granadina... Este es el cuarto tomo y sigue igual de maravilloso que los 3 anteriores. Yo me los he leido ( generalmente suelo leer cualquier cosa antes de dárselo a mis hijos y he descubierto joyitas de la literatura infantojuvenil ...Ungerer, Jeffers, Sendak, Gorey..) y lo recomiendo tanto a adultos como a niños de la misma manera que recomiendo a Tintín o Asterix ( aunque no tengan nada que ver con Hilda)... En definitiva, una maravilla . A ver si el autor, Pearson, llega a los veintitantos volúmenes como la criatura de Hergé.. Por último, el lomo de cada volumen es de distinto color y en la biblioteca familiar quedan muy resultones... Espero que haya sido útil mi valoración

Bought for my 6 year old who is an avid reader. He’ll sit and read this over the space if an hour. Giving it 5 stars from him because he enjoyed it and 5 stars from me for the hour’s peace I got.

Nice book, amazing creative art work

Hilda has become one of our favourite comics ! Can be read by the whole family, from my 6-year-old daughter, to my 12-year-old and myself.
