The fabric is not so soft and thin but breathable. It appears just as the photo and you choose the size that suits your child. My son is 5 yrs old but he’s thick so I got size 7-8.

Could have gotten a bigger size i purchased a Large thinking it was a size 14 but a large is a 10-12 so an Xlarge is a 14-16
