Mainichi KOH Sandalwood Incense 170 Sticks

We always get the same sandalwood incense which is expensive but hand made without strong oils from a small company in Taiwan. I didn't want to spend the money to get that again so went to look for new incense that had the same essence. I decided to try this after reading the reviews as I really like Sandalwood. This incense is amazing. The smell is perfect without the heavy oils. If you are used to cheap incense with the strong oils, you may find that the scent is a bit soft and light. But this is because it isn't made with heavy oils. The fragrance is light and sweet with a hint of flowers and a slight woodsy smell, exactly what sandalwood should be. I think the negative reviews could be because people are used to heavy oil incense. If you like really strong incense, this isn't for you. If you are looking for something a bit more delicate than this is perfect. The package is such an added bonus. The only thing criticism I would say is that it burns really fast. There are 300 sticks which is nice but each one only last for about 25 min. The ones we would get at a local store from Taiwan last 2 hours per stick but they are 3 times longer than these but the price is also 7 times higher. I would order again and I will try a difference fragrance.

This scent remind me of my grandparents house who live in Japan. 🇯🇵 Authentic Japanese scent ! It made me relax and very calm down when I feel overwhelmed. Perfect for relaxing!!!!

I love this incense! I am more familiar with Indian incense, but even the good quality stuff can be too intense for me and my household. This incense has a lovely smell (sandalwood) but burns much slower and produces less smoke and irritants. I can enjoy the experience! Although the stick is shorter than Indian incense sticks, it is all incense (like the cones), so I feel like you may even be getting more per stick. If you are able to handle intense smells and smoke, and that is what you are hoping for, you will probably find this brand weak. I find it refreshing with a strong, but not overwhelming, scent. You get a lot of sticks (170), so this is a good price per stick if you like it!

A quality incense stick but at least for the sandalwood variety there is more of wood scent then the earthy scent of a good sandalwood incense stick or cone. Still a decent scent but a little weak.

Wow these are amazing! They smell fantastic there is no smoke and they are very high quality incense sticks from Japan. Please be mindful the full stick burns and they are delicate. If handled properly and the right burner is used they will not break. Even if they break you fam burn both pieces. This comes in a beautiful high quality box and wrapped with fine rice paper and Japanese writing, beautiful presentation for a gift. They burn for a very long time for the stick size ~30min. Cannot recommend these highly enough for the value, quality and presentation. Sandalwood is remarkable and quality of the company has encouraged me to try other varieties.

A very nice traditional sandalwood stick. Since other folks, and myself, seemingly came across this after trying the Morningstar sandalwood I'll try to do a comparison of sorts. Smells less perfumey and more woodsy and natural than the Morningstar Variety (but nothing like a burning stick from the yard). The aroma is hard to describe, but as others have said it reminds me of the inside of buddhist temple. Very calming and subtle. The smell is much less sweet than the Morningstar variety and has a heavier musky background character to it, while the Morningstar is comparatively brighter and sharper. Both are very nice, and for the price I'd recommend trying both, but out of the two I prefer the heavier Mainichi-Koh. The Mainichi-Koh smells very traditional and has some notes that might strike modern western nostrils as a little off but it's a beautifully executed scent if traditional Japanese sandalwood is what you're looking for.
