Synology DS1522+ 30TB 5 bay Desktop NAS solution, pre-installed with 5 x 6TB Seagate IronWolf Drives

🗄️ Storage & RAID Setup Really happy with the DS1522+ so far. I’ve got two 12TB drives installed using Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) with 1-drive fault tolerance, which is perfect for my needs at the moment. That still leaves me three empty bays to expand into in the future, which is one of the main reasons I went for this model. Plenty of room to grow. 🔊 Noise Levels It runs relatively quietly - no major noise coming from it in normal use. If you’re a very light sleeper or sensitive to low fan/hard drive noise, you might prefer to keep it in another room, but for me it has not been an issue at all. 🖥️ Software Experience Synology’s software (DSM) is excellent. You log in through a web browser, and the interface is smooth, quick and intuitive. Remote access is available through QuickConnect, which lets you securely reach your NAS from outside your home network using a personalised link. I haven’t explored every feature yet, but it’s been seamless so far for backups and file access. 📱 Mobile Apps - A Weak Spot My only real gripe is with the mobile apps, especially Synology Photos. Functionally it works - my photos do back up - but it crashes fairly often for me and I’m not entirely sure why. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it’s definitely an area I hope Synology improves. 🔁 Reliability & Usage I’ve been running mine continuously for a few months now without a single fault, restart or unexpected issue. I mainly use it to store precious memories and free up space on my phone (which is always full), and it’s done exactly what I needed it to do. 🏁 Overall A strong, expandable and reliable NAS with fantastic software and great long-term potential. If Synology can polish the mobile apps a bit more, it would be close to perfect. Still, I’m a big fan and happy with the investment.

It is expensive, no doubt but it has been working very good. I have it for a few months. And the noise is good. The connectivity is also very good. I rarely worried about it going down. Overall, this is a very good machine. And as been doing a very good job for myself in my family

My old Synology DS214 play was starting to show signs of being ready to be retired not that it wasnt doign everthing i wanted it too, it was just short of space and old. My old NAS will be used to back up this new one as it has been reliable so I felt comfortable with another Synology although i must admit, the UGREEN series turned my head with the hardware on offer but he software is still a bit behind but in a few years when this is up for replacement, i think UGREEN will end up with my wonga if they carry on with the hardware offerings they have now and improve the softwarre. The Synology recommendation wizard came up with the DS923+ for my needs but having done a bit of digging and speaking to a few freinds, i went for the DS1522+. I was tempted to wait for the 1525+ to come out in a couple of months but Synology are comitting suicide at the moment restricting you to use everythign they produce and i am not being forced down a road i dont want to walk which is wht UGREEN turned my head but forunately the 1522+ still allows you on the most part, full autonomy less the SODIMM drives. Synolgy at the moment are charging a ridiculous amount for these, almost double. For just over £100 more, it offered an extra drive bay and more expandability which i probably wont use but hte option is there. I've only had the DS1522+ setup for a couple of days, but upon first setup, it was noticeably faster (way less strain on CPU/RAM). I used YouTube videos for guidance on setup (I was glad because there were settings I otherwise wouldn't have known about). I'm glad I made the purchase; I'm not afraid to use Synology Drive anymore since things are so fast.

We only wish we had bought one years ago. Combine this with the SSD cache storage and the huge RAM upgrade, and it's incredibly responsive—instantly responsive. The operating system on this is fantastic, too. My only pain point is that I wish it had a screen to show system temperature, IP address, etc. We went from a QNAP to a Western Digital (Huge mistake) and now to this, and for performance, this is even better than the QNAP NAS we had. But, it is painfully expensive. So that performance does come at an extraordinary cost. Its incredibly quiet too. Upgrading the RAM also required no tools; it just slots right into the side panel from the inside.

Other than my router this is the center of my IT system. If you have a house or a business with multiple users, you should look at this. If you don't, its not even overkill. It's unnecessary. It is easy to install. It requires as much expertise as you want to learn in order to take advantage of all of its features. I use it as storeage/back up for all of my devices. It holds all of my audio/video (takes up the bulk of the available space). I should use it for security/cctv, but I've not gotten around to it. Cons: This is my second DS 5 bay. My old one stop working, because of a faulty transister (7 years old). Synology is not in the business of fixing old devices. A new board to replace a £1 part costs as much as a new device.

It is a good product and I have been using it for sometime. I think it worth it. If you want to store your memories and it comes with a good reliable software as well

My old ds1515+ stop working after There was a brief power outage. I order this ds1522+. I was looking for newer model ds1525+ but read reviews to had problems with 3rd party hdd. File transfer was straight forward. Transfer from old ds1515+ all drives to new ds1522+ the same places, hdd 1 to 1c hdd 2 to 2 …. After switching on and find IP from Synology . Then fallow next,next and next. 20min update and I get access to all my files and setting like nothing happen before. Now just looking for UPS to be save how sorry.

Ich bin echt froh mir diese NAS gekauft habe. Nachdem meine alte NAS (Theccus, 8 Jahre alt) kaputt geworden ist habe ich lange das Internet durchforstet um einen geeigneten Ersatz zu finden. Was ich gefunden habe war nicht nur ein Ersatz, sondern eine Verbesserung. Absolut einfach zu bedienende Oberfläche mit der das Einrichten einer NAS auch für halbwegs erfahren User machbar ist. (Aber ACHTUNG: etwas IT-Kenntnisse sind bei Einrichten jeder NAS notwendig - egal von welchem Hersteller. Anstcken und verwenden wie bei einer USB-Festplatte geht da nicht) Jenen die ein wenig Erfahrung haben kann ich dieses Gerät nur empfehlen. Zumal jede Menge wertvoller Apps ganz einfach per Mausklick nachinstalliert werden können. Hätte ich sie nicht schon, dann würde ich mir genau diese kaufen.

Synology quoi! Alors ok c'est cher, ok c'est du 1GB (*4), ok c'est pas aussi puissant ni complet que la conncurence actuelle (et beaucoup moins que mon serveur) mais alors cette fiabilité, ce silence, cette offre logicielle, cette communauté! On sait (quasi) tout faire avec et on ne se prend pas la tête. Une solution clé en main élégante et sans prise de tête. Alors oui Synology a un prix et pour le particulier, il y a surement mieux ailleurs mais pour le moment ils sont toujours au top et difficilement battable... (mais le rapport qualité/prix/ équipement est désastreux).

Una NAS que sirve para editar video correctamente, ademas tiene 5 bahias mas que suficiente para datos, con dos slots de memoria SSD para cache o unidad. En mi caso los 4 link de red agregados son mas que suficiente para dar velocidad. Le pude poner memorias compatibles para aumentar la RAM y usar otras SSD sin problemas, ya que las ampliaciones de synology son demasiado caras.
