Does this push well on carpet?

It has an adjustable screw that makes it easier or harder to push. My granddaughter pushes it on hardwood and a low nap carpet but I bought it for her to use while learning to walk. We are very happy with it and are impressed with the quality.

How is the ball on the push cord secured? Is there any way it can detach?

The ball on the pull cord is attached to a string with a wooden dowel on the other end. You can remove it by pushing the wooden dowel through the hole in the cart. It is very well made and sturdy. I would purchase it again.
