Fantastic two-hose standalone portable AC
This two-hose standalone portable air conditioning unit was the most powerful I could find on Amazon or any other online shopping site. It arrived very well packaged and in great condition. It took very little effort to get set up and works extremely well to cool my IT server room. It is mildly noisy but what else would you expect for a portable indoor air conditioner? It works very well and the remote is helpful for setting the temperature and modes.

Cools Well but Hoses Don't Have A Grate/Vent
So far I am happy with the unit, I live in the desert so I believe I won't have the humidity issues other people have had. It loses a star because Whynter, unlike other brands I have, does not have any kind of grate/vent on the opening of the hoses so people walking by can put anything they want in the hose (neighbor kids put rocks). Also concerned about birds or animals getting in and dying. As well as damage to the unit. I just ordered a universal cover that I hope fits. All Black and Decker units I have owned the hose opening has a vent to keep large things from coming into the unit from outside.

Doesn't stay cool.
When it works, it's fine, but it constantly has to be reset or it stops cooling. I bought it two years ago, and it only gerts used about two months of the year. Year one was fine. Year two was spotty. This is year three, and I just reset it for the fourth time in an hour.

Makes room cold. Everything else about it is a big, loud pain in the butt.
Does it make a room cold? Yes. Does it do it well? Kind of. Do any of the other advertised features work well or at all? Pretty much not at all. Remote has never worked. Compressor turning on and off is so loud it wakes me up at night. I have to keep the unit in an adjacent room to my bedroom and use an additional box fan to blow the cold air into the bedroom at night. There is no setting that allows the compressor to stay permanently "on" - even when set to the coldest possible temperature (i think low 60s?) my thermostat still reads around 67 and it shuts itself off. Heavy - I'm a big dude and I can move it alright but smaller folks or anyone physically disabled would find it super difficult. Panels that attach to the window are too short and no extras are provided. Does not have a lip or any other way to secure it to the window. Only reason this review isn't lower is because i have about 1200sq feet of home and if i leave this running in the main room and set up a couple fans for circulation, it takes care of the whole house just fine (it was 95F the last few days). Loud, obnoxious, poorly designed, remote doesn't work, install sucks, bad overall engineering for the UI/accessiblity, but it technically DOES do its primary task of making me not sweat to death.

Large and in charge!
I’ve had this unit for about 2 weeks now and it’s been working great. It’s more than enough to keep my bedroom below 70 degrees (while it’s 85+ degrees outside). This unit would also be great for a larger space, such as a living room. While it is loud, it does not have any intrusive sounds. The fan has a balanced white/pink noise distribution, although the powerful compressor literally shakes the unit when it turns on. My only complaint is that the remote does not work well from all angles (especially greater distances). If you make a change on the remote when it is out of range, the readout will update on the remote but not on the unit. For this reason, I often find it quicker to change the settings on the unit itself than to trust that the remote has translated everything accurately.

Only a so so unit
Cools alright but the carbon filter is a joke. So thin and cheep it not worth putting in there. I also had smoke come in the unit when there was a fire for a day.

Make sure you buy filters for the NP close
It should come with a filter for the outside hose the intake hose I took the back off and found so many bugs and my coils filthy they don't tell you that you can get a filter you just got to look around and see if they have one for it for the intake hose that's usually after the damage is done I would not buy this again too expensive
