The unit is pretty sleek, very quiet on lower setting. Air is pretty cool, I have it in the attic, it's working hard but does the job. The window panel setup is super easy to install. My window is only 14" wide so I had to cut the plastic, easy job and works really well. I wish the unit came in black as well. The smart app is nice and easy to control remotely. I've run it only a few times, will update this summer.

Coming to the cooling performance itself, it works remarkably well. It effortlessly pushes cold air across a large 600-square foot room, and the dual-hose setup means you aren't fighting negative air pressure. While the fan is definitely audible when running at absolute maximum speed to cool a hot room, it gets exceptionally quiet once the room has reached the target temperature. It makes your life so much easier because it burns off the moisture internally, meaning you rarely ever have to bother with emptying a dripping water tray. My only pet-peeve is the overall weight and bulk. It tips the scales around 80 pounds, so lugging it up a flight of stairs is absolutely a two-person job. But given how effectively it beats the summer heat and how efficiently it runs on lower power, I am absolutely thrilled with the investment. It provides really great value for money when you want to avoid running your central air all day. If you are looking for a reliable, smart, and heavy-duty portable AC for your toughest rooms, then this is it, period!

Bought this portable AC for our kid's bedroom that has south facing windows. We needed a simple, quick and easy portable AC unit as the room has horizontal sliding windows (we didn't want to fuss with installing a custom fit board to fit a windw unit). Cooling performance is excellent! It keeps a medium bedroom at a steady, comfortable temperature. It’s quiet yet, powerful. The app is convenient as we live in a townhome and we can control the AC from anywhere to save on energy costs. Highly recommended!

I bought this portable air conditioner for an upstairs bedroom that relies on a portable unit to stay cool in warmer months. This was relatively quick and simple to set up. We had to put this in a sliding glass door, instead of a window, but there were no issues and it fit just fine. It does definitely take 2 people to bring it up a flight of stairs, however! The cooling functionality works really well and holds a nice, steady temperature within the room. It is nice and quiet and powerful enough to keep a large bedroom cool. It has smart functionality with a companion app to let you control everything remotely, something I'm sure my daughter is enjoying. I highly recommend this portable air conditioner!

Noise Level: I'm most impressed with how quiet the compressor is on this unit. I'm used to the older tech where every time the compressor turns on, it makes this really loud BOOONNNNNNGGG / humming noise. Traditionally, the compressor has been the source of most of the noise coming from the unit. With this Whynter unit, you barely notice the compressor has engaged as it only makes a slight, high-pitched noise. All the noise (which can be considerable) comes from the speed of the fan BUT, you can control that to your preference. I leave my unit on auto and it rarely runs at high fan speed but YMMV depending on your situation. Cooling Performance: Cooling is much more efficient with the dual hose design. My old unit with a single hose was running more often to keep the room cool and I believe this is specifically due to the dual hose design. If anything, this unit tends to cool my room TOO much and I've been trying to strike the right balance, which for me has been 73 full auto with "i sense" enabled. I'll discuss "i sense" in the physical remote section below. Features: I would say this product is fully loaded with all the features you want and some extras too. I am not using the wireless app to control the device but, it does have some app-unique features such as setting schedules, check function (which is a self-diagnosis test for the health of the machine), boost mode (max cool / max fan speed), express run (this is where you can program and activate a specific mode, temp, and fan speed with 1 button), and of course, the convenience of controlling the unit remotely. Physical Remote: the physical remote is simple and easy to use but, it's range is finicky which is the only negative thing I have to say about this unit overall. For example, on the remote, there is a button labeled "i sense" which uses the remote as a temperature sensor / thermostat. This is a feature I have on my old unit, and I was glad to see it included with this Whynter unit. The way it works is that the remote reports back its temperature sensor reading every 3 minutes back to the main unit which reacts appropriately. The key here is making sure the remote has a clear line of sight to the main unit and isn't too far away. Max range of the remote is 8 meters / 26 feet and the remote needs to be pointing DIRECTLY at the main unit. I've found that it's very easy for the remote to fall out of communication with the main unit so, I test by placing the remote where I want it to sit and then hitting the temp up or down button to make sure the main unit reacts. It's quite sensitive to line-of-sight issues so, test communication thoroughly when relying on "i sense." If the remote cannot communicate with the main unit after 7 minutes, "i sense" automatically disengages. At least there is a small icon on the remote (which is shaped like generic person’s head and shoulders) indicating the feature is active. Window Kit: The unit comes with a VERY large set of panels for window installation. I have a 36 inch wide window which was the perfect, wrong size. My window was too big for only using the panel with the cutout for the dual hose so, I added the extension panel. But the extension panel was too big as it covered 70% of the exhaust cutout when fully ended on a 36 inch wide window. I read the manual and it said to cut the extension panel to size…which I easily did using a circular saw after measuring. You will need to be prepared to cut the extension panel to size if your window width is larger than 28 ½ inches but smaller than 42 inches. This is a VERY common range for window sizes so, be prepared to cut the extension panel. Overall: I love this air conditioner and can attest to the increased efficiency of the dual-hose design. It cools very well and operates well by setting a temp and then using the auto features. Worth the extra cash money for the quiet compressor / dual-hose design.

I’ve lived without AC for years and finally bought this Whynter unit. My only regret is waiting this long. The Pros: • Insane Cooling: It cooled my main living area from "unbearable" to "hoodie weather" in under an hour. • Dual-Hose Efficiency: Since it has the hose-within-a-hose design, it doesn't create that "negative pressure" that pulls hot air in from other rooms. It’s significantly more efficient than single-hose units. • Surprisingly Quiet: I can actually hear my TV while it’s running. The inverter technology keeps it at a steady, quiet hum rather than constantly kicking on and off. • Smart App: Setting it up on my phone was easy, and being able to turn it on before I get home is a lifesaver. The Cons: • The Weight: It’s heavy! Get help if you have stairs, though the wheels make it easy to move once it's unboxed. • Window Kit: You might want some extra foam tape for a perfect seal, but the included kit is decent. Bottom Line: If you’re on the fence like I was, just do it. It’s an investment in your sanity during the summer.

Very surprised by the power of this portable a/c as I had not heard of this brand much, but this thing is a beast. I will have to check back in later for longevity but it seems to being the job very well so far. The inverter thing is great instead of my old one that would slam on and off all the time. I saw a lot of reviews about the noises. Compared to our old Frigidaire it is extremely quiet. But of course with any air conditioner unit running completely inside your home there is going to be some noise. But I can certainly tell you this is way quieter than units of the past.

I originally bought the first unit at the end of MAY 2024 due to an upstairs bedroom facing east and my HOA flat refusing to allow tried-and-true window A/C units (literally will start fining you within a week if they see one). That's the only reason portable A/C units exist; because homeowners and HOAs are worried their property values will go down if there are houses with window A/C units. I digress... My family only turned on the unit at night to make the bedroom comfortable for kids after the room heated up all day facing the sun (this is after we installed reflective film on the windows and blackout curtains...still quite hot by the afternoon). Unit #1 worked well until we took it offline, dried it out, and stored it by the Fall (OCT) of 2024. We brought it back online in JUN 2025 due to the heat again. No issues until the A/C unit stopped cooling in AUG. Only the fan worked. Broken. This started a 3+ month process of back and forth with the company via emails, phone calls, photographing the error codes (at their insistence). While the one year warranty had expired, the three-year compressor warranty had not. The company was trying very hard to not act. Finally, they agreed to replace the unit with a new one, but I had to pay $75 (mail a check) for the shipping. The new unit arrived in NOV, was used for only a week, and then again dried out and placed into storage for the winter (by storage, I mean next to the window it was disconnected from for venting). An unusually warm winter forced us to bring the unit back online in FEB whereby it worked for a week, and then violently shutdown. It made a huge racket (loud enough to wake the entire family), would not respond to its buttons or controller, forcing us to force unplug the unit to stop the racket at 2:30 AM. It never turned on ever again. What followed was another extended back and forth over a month with the company via email and phone that resulted in their determination that the unit needed to be repaired and that I was responsible for the shipping to their service center...in California... of a 77 lbs Air Conditioner. Take a guess as to how much it would cost to send that. Yup. Estimates of about $300-$600 to ship this giant machine. Which is what I paid for the original A/C I purchased. Yes, this was the second unit...the brand new unit that had only about 2 total weeks of use (only used at night). I don't even want to get into how Whynter sent me a pdf that detailed how to disassemble the A/C to try and identify the fault or repair it. I'm a nurse, not an electrician. You should really not be advising average people to disassemble electrical devices. Henceforth, I put the A/C into my car to ship it to California, but my local dump apparently doesn't do that kind of shipping with their metal recycling. But it was gratifying listening to the casing crack open when it landed after an 8 foot fall down into the pitch. I can stand for bad products. I can't stand for having my time wasted by the company. Back and forth. You have this warranty but not this warranty. "I can't see the photos attached, please send again." Stop making me do all the work here, it's your product. So, no, don't buy this or anything else from them. The high price is not warranted. For the price, the units should last a long time. They didn't last nine total months of usage. That's an average of $65 dollars per month of use. Not a good rate.

This thing is a beast - great for condo use, relatively easy to set up, easy to set and use. I have it in my bedroom and provided I leave the bedroom door open before bedtime it makes a decent attempt on taking the worst edge off the rest of the condo as well. With the door shut it brings the room to a comfortable level quickly and keeps it there easily. Livable but less positive - sleep mode doesn't just reduce the throughput, it appears to switch it off completely. The noise of operation is easy to sleep through, but it does have an unfortunate habit of beeping when it changes mode, and those are not easy to sleep through.
