The base is too small for Apple magsafe cases, and will not stick to them without an aid of the metal plate. It is still a great little product, and with an aid of a metal plate will stick and safely hold on to your phone. However the base is too small in diameter to grab on to the built in metal ring in Apple cases, and does not look good in the transparent case. Great, strong magnet, but will not work on Apple magsafe iphone cases without metal plate accessory insert.

I like the idea of this but it's not quite right. The magnet isn't as pictured. It's black rubber, which might seem to be better than pictured but isn't. I think the idea was to use weaker magnets and let the rubber grip make up for it but it just gives you weak magnets. And a cheap rubber that actually rubs paint off other other surfaces. You even start to see outlines of the magnets inside after one use. More importantly - that is, more of a problem - the surface is too small to work with phones or cases that already have magnets like the magsafe standard. In fact, this will only interfere with what's already there. And that's despite first inquiring about this issue directly to the seller, who said it'd work. It doesn't.

This thing does the job. You get what you see in the picture except the Livestream Gear logo is not on the magnet. Don't really care about that much. Instead you get a black rubber circle, which I think for the safety of the cell phone should do better for preventing breakage. I really bought this for one component of it - the two-prong GoPro-style attachment. I wanted to attach it to a GoPro rotating clip, and then I put it on the front of my wire shelving. The result is that I can just put my phone on a magnet holder to mount it right below my monitor, which also has a cord running to it. That way I can run a passive app like a clock and it does well for putting together my multi-monitor control center I'm building. If you happen to be doing the same thing I am, you should know that the connection between those two components is a little loose, and tightening the screw that holds them together doesn't seem to fix that. It holds them up but it's a little tough to hit buttons on the phone without moving them a little bit. So there's that. But it's a cheap component anyway. And you get a couple of steel plates coming with it, which you usually have to buy separately.

As others have said. I ordered this previously and it was what’s in the the picture. It was so good that I ordered 3 more and now it’s a little black magnet and not nearly as strong. I would not purchase again.

Maybe I got a dud, but I ordered two of these and NEITHER came with the metal plates. Plus as others have noted, it doesn't look like the picture. Aside from that, magnet seems ok. Once I get metal plates, I'll see if it holds my 17" 2lb travel monitors.

Bought this to hold up a portable monitor for my WFH travel set up. Magnet was too weak and could not hold what I needed. Also the product shown is not what comes when you purchase this item. You actually get a magnet surrounded by rubber, which makes it even weaker.

Why wouldn't they use strong magnets is beyond me... they probably like having their products back and their reviews low... I have an i7 pro and an i8. it could hold the smaller i8 but barely and didn't feel comfortable, no chance for the bigger one.... forth I tried, this is no better than others...
